Ok so I bought a viper 5900 Alarm/Remote start not that long ago; and last night i finished the basic alarm part of the system. All the sensors and door driggers are working great. Now I started to work with the remote start part of this system and im stumped. Off of the relay system for the alarm/remote start there is 8 heavy gauge wires that go to the following:
Purple Starter output to starter (+)(Starter Side)
Green Starter Input from ignition (Keyside)
Red High Current 12v Input (+)
Oragne Output to accessory Circuit (+)
Pink Output to primary Ignition Circuit (+)
Red 30A High Current 12v Input(+)
Pink/White Output to Second Ignition Circuit (+)
red/White 30A High Current 12v Input (+)

Now I know that all of the high current inputs should come right off of the battery so that im good with, but the starter side and key side wires i dont know what that is asking me to do. Also if our starters and such are ran off of relays Im assuming that might mean that the starter side is after the relay, and the key side is before the realy? Is this correct or maybe not.

Also if anyone can give me the locations of where some of these wires are located at it would be a great help, I have the wire color diagrams for my car but the wires are too thin to hold this much current. Thanks a lot for any help. In know theres a few of you out there with remote starts so please help.

All the wires you'll be looking for are coming directly from the ignition switch. To connect the starter wires as recommended, you need to cut the starter wire coming from the ignition switch and connect the remote start wires between. This serves 2 functions...a starter interupt so that when the alarm is going off, a thief can't just break the ignition tumbler and start the vehicle (not real likely anyway), and secondly: once the remote start is engaged, you can't grind the starter by trying to restart the vehicle when you get in.

All wires you need should be easilly accessible after pulling off the under-dash panel.

 So attaching these large wires to the wires comming from the key tumbler wont fry the relays?
Think about it this way. If the wires can supply the needed voltage and current for the car to opperate without the remote start, meaning when just using the key and driving the car around, then why would the remotestart fry the relays for doing what they do normally? the12volt.com can give you the wire colors, or you can search on this forum probably. At work we use Directechs.com but you have to be a dealer or know the passwords.

I dunno maybe they just beefed up the wires for the just in case, because the wires are a lot heavier than what is at the key tumbler, thats all :).

Im assuming that the remote start function isn't working at all?? if thats the case then check this. On any dei remote start you must have the black/white wire (the one that is in the same harness as the tach and hoodpin) sent to ground in order for the remote start to function at all. It is the neutral safty switch.
