Well, I was going to do the GM MAP sensor/AFC mod. But I was also thinking that it may also be able to use it to replace the MDP as well. I know the MDP is a "basic" MAP sensor.

But I'm not quite sure about the operating voltages of the MDP. Would anyone happen to know? It would seem to me that I could dual use the MAP sensor (since I converted over to a 1G head/IM/TB setup and didn't modify the IM to accept the MDP...so I get the CE light). And it wouldn't look as ghetto with the two in the engine bay.

Since they both operate in the same voltage range 0-5V (though not sure of calibration of the MDP), theoretically it would work.

The worst thing that can happen is that the ECU will throw the CE light again if the voltages are not within the specified range, right?

Anyone have any comments about this?

Tried it...seems to work great so far. No CE light. And I hooked up the SAFC to it. The car doesn't load up in the lower gears like it did before....and it feels like the car is advancing the timing more. But I need to get a datalogger to verify that. But it does seem to pull harder now...even with the warmer weather.

Anyways, I'll drive the car around and see if ay CE light comes on or any negative effects...so far, so good though :)

What an MDP, and I'm guess 1Gs don't use this sensor? I haven't seen anything the represents a MAP sensor on my car...

Yeah, 1G's don't have this sensor...that's why when I switched to a 1G intake manifold, I had to do this modification. The MDP sensor just checks to make sure that the EGR is functioning properly.

Okay, well, I found out that I wasn't the first one to this of this...but never seen this discussed at all on the forums.

But since it is related to the DSMlink tuning, I suppose it's being used for a slightly different reason. I was originally going to just use it for doing Boost vs. RPM vs. Fuel tuning via SAFC.

But as a side benefit, it would eliminate my need to juryrig a vacuum block or pull out the 1G manifold to tap for the MDP sensor....so I would get rid of that damn CE light. Oh well, anyways, I suppose I just answer my own questions.
