Now I know that any internal part that has a score in it that your fingernail catches on, you should not use. My fingernail catches on this, but it really doesnt seem like that big of a deal to me.

I would just get it bored out cause Im replacing the pistons anyway, but I found a great deal on standard bore wisecos, so I would like to use them.

Would it be a bad idea to leave the bore alone so I can use std. sized pistons?

you could get it honed and use an oversize ring

If it is only one score mark then probably it will be ok. You will get a little more blowby. It depends on what you want to do with it. If you are plan on driving it gently for ten more years then you might want to bore it. If you are going to run the crap out of it for a year or two and rebuild it again then I would not get real worried about it. If it is a wide score you may have problems. If it is just a scratch I would not get too worried.

Did you make sure your tolerences are ok to hone and use stock size pistons and rings? maybe you could hone a little more if your tolerences are still good. In my opinion its worth doing it the right way and having the machine shop do the bore while your car is already apart... The last thing I want to do is rip my car apart again cause I wanted to save a few bucks on pistons.
Good luck!

Yeah, I t-gauge/mic'd the cylinders and they were like .0002 under spec :dunno: I even measured it several times to make sure I wasn't just messing up. So I guess I'll just hone it till my fingernail doesn't catch, then remeasure it, or just throw the pistons in and check clearences. If it's out of spec, shit I'll just re sell the pistons.

You should be alright, as long as you/your shop doesn't go crazy on the bores. It's where having a good machine shop shines. Make sure they have the right torque plate, as well. :)
