I have a 95 awd with 245/40/18 fz4 toyo proxes and 8.5" wide 5zigen's with 1/4" spacers. I have Skunk2 coilovers with Tokico Illuminas as well as an Eibach prokit. Should I use the Skunk2's or just the Eibach's? If I use the Eibach's what should I do as far as shocks? I know I should just search forever about this, but I was hoping for a quick answer.

I personally have the Prokit on my 1g with AGX shocks, and l love it. My GF has a Prokit and Tokico Illuminas, It's very nice but still a little soft. I think poly sway bushings will help that.

I've never run coilovers but I've heard they can be very nice. You get the handling plus a fairly nice ride. Mine (1g) is kind of stiff and wished it had a bit more float. 2g can maintain a nice ride with the Prokit/Tokico setup. There's a price difference too!

I got both sets of Prokit springs off of E-bay at a good price. I believe I even bought both sets of shock off E-bay too. Ran around $500-550 for either set, with the 2g being the more expensive.

I always say that the 1g isn't as nimble but the suspension is strong, but is the opposite with the 2g's. They have more nimble handling but they're prone to suspension problems. Those double wishbones are just like a chicken's wishbone, eventally one side is going to give.

I plan on ditching all of the rubber stuff for solid eventually.

The price difference doesn't matter since I'm working with stuff I already have. I've been questioning the quality of Skunk2's coilivers as I've read mixed reviews. I'm still unsure if they would be worth throwing on just to have some of the benefits of coilovers or if just using the illuminas with the prokit would be a better quality setup for what I'm going for.

Yea, but I love PA back roads! :D

PROkit is thee way to go!:D Especially if your like me and your on a budget.
I'm definitely on a budget. I'm still in college for one more year, but I already have all of this stuff. I just need to find a good combination.

I leaning towards the PROkit and Illumina's. At least it's proven.

Are Skunk2's real coilovers? I mean do they offer things like damper settings and rebound adjustment, or are they just sleeves and coils for ride height?

I'm going to put a basic set of coilovers on my Evo, simply because I need to customize ride height that a simple set of springs can't offer, but I wish I didn't have too. I'd rather have the simplicity of just springs and struts. I have the Eiback Prokit on my 2G with Koni Yellows and it offers a great ride and great handling, I've never given any realy thought to upgrading. Complicated CO's just means more things to screw up IMO.

That's what I'm thinking. Simplicity sounds way better than unnecessary variables if the gains aren't worth it. I just needed some convincing as to whether or not a little more adjustability was worth the extra effort. Thanks for all of the input guys.

Dont go with the skunk 2's. I'v heard alot of bad things about them, the ride qaulity is very shitty, comparable to the $100 ebay coilovers.
I've heard quite a few stories, but I didn't know they where that bad. If I knew for sure that was the case I wouldn't have even considered them. I heard they were at least a step up from that. Skunk2 makes some decent stuff albeit mostly for Honda guys.

IMO a coilover is not decent unless it has dampering, which the skunk 2 does not. It will be a very bumpy ride with the skunk 2's.

I almost bought a sent when I had my 2G, untill I researched them and found that the ride quality is horrible.

When I had my 3g eclipse, I had some Skunk2's with KYB AGX and they were pretty decent. At that time I had a 2g gsx with and Eibach pro kit and the ride was pretty much the same almost. I remembered the Skunk2's was a little more rougher. But I was a little lower with the Skunk2's compared to the Eibach pros.

If you were in my position what would you do since you have experience with both? What shocks did you have with your PROkit?

The PROkit and Illuminas are going to ride a little rough as well though right?

It depends on what you want out of your driving. The Skunk2's was a good setup and made the car lower than the Eibach pro's. When I went over small hills and dips on the highway it would make me jump out of my seat. The Eibach setup was not as rough as the Skunk2's.
If you want your car lower for looka and can stand a little roughness in driving, then go for the Skunks.
If you want your car as a daily driver and be a little lower and smooth driving, then go for the Eibachs.

I did have a 3 inch exhaust on my 2g gsx when it was lowered on the Eibachs.
I really didnt have any problems with scraping with the exhaust unless I was entering a steep driveway.
With the Skunk2s, I couldnt go over speed bumps without scraping a ton.
Right now Im just going for looks and a little speed. I dont mind my car riding a little rough so I would go for the Skunk2s based on looks. I think you cant really go wrong with either setup unless you cant stand having a rough ride.
