^subject says it all, I have seen vis, and would like to know about squidskins and mabye fiber images, i.e. rolled edges, fitment, finished underside, etc. TIA.

It was either this forum or "tuners" but this one individual has the fenders, skirts, hatch...not sure about the hood. BUT from the pictures he posted it looks like they are meant to be painted. It didn't look like they had a SHOW finish like you would expect from FI or VIS. He even said there were some places that had to be patched, very minor though. I thinks his screen name was "ings" so that should help in the search.

Squidskins is local to me, and having seen his stuff in person I wouldnt get his hood. If you want a decent finish, definitely go for a VIS or another big name company.
is their a difference between the 2g talon and the 2g eclipse hatch? whats wrong with the finish does it just need a gel coat or is it just shitty fabrication?
^ I want to know the same, the hood will be painted black so "show finish" isn't something I'm looking for, I just want the fitment to be good and want it to have rolled edges. Now, what about fiber images?
FI has NO rolled edge. I still don't understand what this "rolled edge" is. I ask because it is virtually impossible to fold carbon fiber back onto itself with out vacumm bagging and I KNOW they are NOT doing this. Is it actually rolled or is it just rounded on the edges and carbon underneath?

I was down at Frank's today (Frank's Fiberglass) and asking him about rolled edges and he is also wondering how they do it without bagging the hood. Frank' knows alot about fiberglass and carbon fiber too. Ever see Chris Rados Celica?
I really gotta' look more closely next time at a VIS hood and see exactly how they achieve this. Even on the fiberglast.com forum we discussed how they would "roll" the edges and do it in a cost effective way....hell, how they even do it in the first place.
Only thing I can think of is they lay it in the mold and trim the excees around the edges about and inch or so wide...let it tack up a bit and then fold the edge over...next take a reverse mold and use that as a compression mold. This would yeild both sides glossed but it would also hold the folded edge. Are VIS hoods glossy on both sides nowdays?
Leo
I'd just stick with ViS if I were you. I just got mine in today as a matter of fact and it's flawless. Not sure really what rolled edges are, but the edges on my hood look perfect. Also, fitment of the fiber images has been questionable before, I remember cucumber ranting about how much he hated his fiber images hood. Just something to think about...
i at one point was a dealer for squid skins he does not produce show aprts he produces race parts his hoods will be stronger then any other hood due to the 3layer design he uses.
there are pics of girls standing on his hoods how many manufacturers do that?
he can have them gel coated or setup and prepered for paint these are things you must discuss with him.
if you have seem the magnus race car or the buschar race car youve seen his work.
