Took the car to the track for the first time last Friday. First two runs the car shifted fine (no grinding, slipping, etc.). On the third run when I went to shift into second it just would NOT go (tried to pound it in a few times too). It was like it was hitting a brick wall! So I pulled it around and let it sit for a while and drove it home (all seemed ok again). Since then I have not gotten on the car too hard (back-to-back), but it seems to be shifting pretty good (does feel a bit more notchy now though than before). My question is, what can cause it to do that...just all of a sudden decide to NOT go into gear (2nd in my case). Yes, I have done searches, but have'nt found any real answers to this exact problem. Thanks.

Can't someone throw me a bone here?! C'mon.

I've noticed that the harder I drive the car and the longer I do it (drive the car hard), the worse the problem gets. Clutch cables? Bushings? Adjustment? .....

Oil looks ok. And yes, when I shift it does feel like it fully engages. It just seems a bit more "notchy" sometimes during shifting (like it slightly "hangs-up" and then goes into gear). It's not major though. Make sense? Hell, I don't know what it is. I'm trying to find anything and everything I can on different adjustments and what not that I can do to try and cure the problem.

i'm wondering if you kinked/twisted your cables when you changed the shifter bushings. You could disconnect them at the tranny and run the shifter as hard as you do driving and see if it feels like its binding. 2nd gear has the longest throw back, so it may just not be showing up in 4th or rev.

Car does have BG in it. As far as what you are saying about the bushings I'm not sure I understand. The only mods to the system are the stiff-shift kit and the braided clutch line. The car does NOT have the Symborski kit (has stock bushings still). Would something like the Symborski kit possibly help the problem?! I'm reaching here.

It might reduce play a little and increase the positive feel of being in gear. More than anything it is just the damn DSM trannies. I have the Symborski kit and love it. I also have my shifter shortened, and a short shift knob and the BG. All of those things help but I still have trouble sometimes with it. Also, I have heard that the BG will start to lose it effectiveness after so many miles.

Sounds to me good ol' 1g trans shifter grind... Welcome to the world of having a fast car, a high (or even not so high) mileage tranny, and not being able to hit second gear hard

ha ha ho ho (insert evil laughter here) hee hee
