I tried a search but I couldnt find anything to answer my question... I just finished installing my 3in GM maft and i'm not understanding the instructions on setting up the MODE SWITCH for my car. These are the instructions below. It says "1 OFF" for a 3inch, ON for a 3.5. What does the off and on mean? Its just a knob how can it be on or off? My car is also a 1G, refering to the second mode setting and again with the off and on... Basically knowing all of this, what position should I turn the knob to? I'm guessing 2? Maybe?

MODE SWITCH: set as follows
1
OFF for 3 MAF ON for 3.5 MAF
2 OFF for a 1G (90 94) vehicle ON for a 2G (95 99) vehicle
3 OFF for NO Fuel Cut Limiter, ON to PREVENT FUEL CUT
4 OFF for Flat AUX fuel control, ON for Contoured AUX fuel mode

Thanks,
Matt

Ok yeah... Wow.. I decided to stop being lazy and actually pull it off the car and check it out... I feel stupid now.. Sorry for wasting everyones time whom read this post. The settings were exactly where they were sposed to be which is surprising considering it came off a 2G... But the car is still acting up and wont go over 4500 without bucking and acting like it doesnt have any fuel. The only thing I can figure is that it may be because I didnt hook up the white wire to the cam angle. I read that you didnt really have to, and I was in a hurry but I will hook it up tomarrow and see what it does..

Ok so I hooked up the CAS wire and there was no difference in the way the car ran. It was still breaking up around 4500 to 5000rpm. Thinking I was possibly running lean,(still running 450's with an evo3 on 10lbs), I added fuel with the AFC and it got worse. So I figured what the hell and I tryed leaning it out about 10% right around where it was cutting out and it cleaned up significantly in 1st most of 2nd and after that it was the same problem. I dont really understand how leaning it out helped. I would think I was running a little lean to begin with.. I guess i'm just wondering if anyone has had a simular issue.

I'm having almost the exact same problem with my 3" MAFT setup on my 1g. Around 4500-5000 RPM it bucks really hard as if it hit a fuel cut. I'm still running the 14b, have the MAFT zeroed out, and even tried flipping the 3rd dip setting between off and on. I don't have any luck trying to fix this problem. I've been through 3 sets of intercooler pipes, have replaced the seals for the throttlebody shaft, and replaced all the gaskets in the intake track. I'm quite sure I don't have any boost leaks, I've leak tested to 25 psi, and I blow the boost leak tester off before I hear any part of the intake track leaking. Any suggestions as to what is happening? I'm runnin 16 lbs of boost on the 14b, I have an FMIC, 3" MAFT, and 272/272 HKS cams (the cams were in the block that a friend of mine gave me after my head was warped from overheating in the past).

Any information would be greatly appreciated.
