Cost of parts and a 12 pack

If you pay someone to do your timing belt, you shouldnt own a dsm

And whatever the parts cost.

 

About how long did it take to put the belt on?

 

To take it out, time it and put back together takes me about 2.5-4 hours...if you have never done it, probably an afternoon.

 

The first time......Probably the whole weekend.
Now its in the 3 hour range.

 

Thats the fun of owning a DSM. Doing it yourself.

But yes...sometimes its not a possibility..(damn daily driver and no garage )...so just go to a couple local shops and ask.

 

Its pretty easy to do . ive got them down to about 1.5-2 hours with engine in the car. I love working in the tight spaces for some reason, makes me work faster.

And have plenty of time. Because I gaurantee you something else will break while your trying to fix it.

 

Never paid for one but i know you can pay as much as $400 if not more. What you should do is find a local dsmer who knows his shit and pay him half the price to do it. You can watch and learn as he does it unlike if you go to a shop.
