OK I just bought a 97 GST $2500 thank you very much, it has 84K miles on it and Im sure the timing belt hasnt been done so I figure I better do it. here are the questions.
I have read that everyone recommends getting a OEM belt but my nearest Mitsubishi dealer is 4 hrs away. Why do you recommend the oem belt has anyone had an aftermarket belt break?? I have always been under the impression that most of the aftermarket stuff exceeds OEM. If oem is the way to go where is a good place online to get mitisubishi parts??
Thanks in advance

Well Im leaning towards not using the tool as Im going too have a hard enough time just getting a belt I hate waiting for stuff... the car has 85K on it and I am pretty sure the belt hasnt been done so you know Im pushing my luck as it is. dsmbuilder can you explain a little better about pulling the pin and when I have the manual and have read vfaq and when they recommend pulling the pin I assume it will be a little more evident when I tear into it also. thanks guys

Yea I understand what Im getting into I have done a few imports before but this is the first dual cam and the first with this type of tensioner and yes the more I see this the more I miss the old steel timing belts that seemed to last forever...
