I've had my 50 trim TO4E for about a year now and I want more streetablity. I want a ported and clipped big 16g, whaddya think?

I have plenty of power above 3k rpm.. Nothing that reving a bit higher can't fix. I really didn't think the 16G spooled that much faster. I did recently put a T25 in my car, and if low end torque is what you want, it had lots of it.

I find even 60-1 perfectly streetable :dunno: . If you really think the 50 trim TO4E is too laggy and you have 0 traction now, you'll just trade the lag of the 50-trim for wheelspin and tire wear with the 16G while sacrificing top end pull and overall HP output. Is it going to make your FWD car more streetable? :dunno:

I haven't ran mine at the track yet.. But I start to make boost at 3000rpm, by about 3800 I'm around 18psi, by 4000 I'm at 20psi or so. It easily makes boost above 3000rpm even from first gear. I've driven cars with basic bolt on mods and afc for tunning, few with 16gs, T28s, big 28, and a couple of 18gs, and none pulled like a 50 trim would on the highway on pump gas. A 60 trim I drove felt preaty similar to the way the 50 trim pulled on pump though.

I guess it can also depend if you have a 1g or 2g intake manifold, a 2g smaller intake runners and higher compression sure help with the low end torque somewhat when the car is off the boost. Also cams seemed to really have helped in the torque department at 4000rpm, where it would normally feel a little flat before, but it also reduces torque under 3k.

I don't know about you guys but when I'm driving on the street I don't need a bunch of power down low to go to the grocery store.

Are you having any fuel supply problems with the 550's? I want a 50 trim but am really concerned with the injectors handling the load. Would I be okay with a 50 trim under 18 psi? If so, screw a trade! I've got cash!

LOL.. Don't know. I have a DSM buddy who's also a Network admin if it counts. I got mine from a local shop. They odered it straight from Precision Turbo. It's the same T3/T4 bolt on everyone else is selling. Same thing as buschurs br500, and AGPs RS49. From what I hear you can even get these from FP if you ask them.

Dude, if you think a 50 trim is laggy you must have other problems. I think the 50 trim is the ultimate street turbo (along with the PTE61). Actually prolly spools at damn near the same spot as a clipped 16G on a properly running car.

do you think 750 bosch injectors are overkill for the SMC50??

i dont know if I have the head to flow that kind of fuel/air

current setup is as follows:
1998 GSX
2.5 downpipe, high flow cat, high flow 2.5 exhaust (im going to a test pipe)
ACT2600 (i know this isnt engine, but its what i got)
K&N Filter (going to make a custom 3" intake)
O2 & Manifold unported (going to port if necessary)
stock IC
Upper IC pipe & 1g BOV
boost guage
new factory mitsubishi engine 0 miles

upgrades in order

0) ordered Oil pressure guage, engine temp guage (thinking about EGT guage, auto meter doesnt make one in carbon fiber, the rest of my guages are carbon fiber!)
1) 95 ECU/DSMLink
2) FUEL Pump, FPR
3) Injectors (please advise on injectors)
4) MBC
5) SMC 50

I hope a good sized FMIC is in your list too :)
