Trimming of front bumper?

I plan on getting a FMIC and I want to show as much as I can :D So I've seen around the dsm community that some of the 2g 97-99 guys trimmed off the black part of the bumper. Was wondering what all precautions I should take for doing this and what tools possibly to use. I'm sure it's a very easy job, but I'd rather get other people's ideas about it. Sorry Burnett for using this picture but while looking at the SSAuto thread I decided to use it.

Mine is attached on the 98. When I trimmed my talons bumper, I used a pneumatic body saw and some patience. But I think a dremel is probably better for clean even edges. Urethane is a pita to cut because it just wants to melt with a power tool, and with a knife it takes forever and you risked the blade slipping and slitting the paint in an undesirable location.

don't apologize.. my cutting job was kinda bad.. i'm going back tomorrow to re-do it.. i used a coping saw (thats the little woodworking saw that does angles and turns easy) and then i smoothed it with a dremel.

my buddy did mine. he used a dremel to cut it out then clean it up. put my front mount on then ran up the road, by the time i came back it was cut out and he almost had the bumper put back on. looks good.

Ive found the best way to cut eurothane is to take a carpet knife and heat it up with a torch until its just slightly glowing and it will cut smooth lines like butter that is until it cools off then you have to heat it up again, youll get about a foot or so each time you heat it up and it takes about 30 sec to heat up the blade on a carpet knife good and hot.

I think it looks good. Anymore trimming, and you might as well put the front mount on the other side of the bumper....Which would look mean as hell...:D
