just wanted to ask around to anybody who turboed a 420A and how much hp ur running in just doing some last touch ups on mine so just looking to kno what up and its not a kit either custom build every thing and a built bottom end.

well as for hp, there is not enough info in you post to tell you, what psi, support mods, cams, ect... Also you must put in new pistons like je, or weisco, because the stock pistons are the downfall of the 420a under boost.

I make 364 whp and 372tq on my gs. That's running 26 psi on a HRC s16g, 110 gas, crane stage 3 cams, JE 8.8:1 pistons, Crower rods, 8 injectors, etc...

Daily I run 16 psi and make 291 whp, 298 tq on 93 pump gas.

When I was boosting on stock internals (8psi interccooled) and few other modifications, I dyno'd 214 whp 221 tq.

I could make alot more with it with a nice big ass turbo, but I want to keep it relatively quick spooling since my GSX is a beast. I will say though that my turbo gs is definately more reliable... always has been.

It's just a bad question, no offense. With the info you give us you could make anywhere from 150whp to 350whp, how are we supposed to have any idea based on the info you give us? I.E. Injectors? Fuel? Intercooler? Turbo? Gas (pump or race)? Fuel/Engine Management?

You have a very close setup to mine with the only real main difference being that I use 8 injectors and you use the emanage. You should make similar numbers I would estimate 16-20 psi on your setup to give your somewhere in the neighborhood of 270 whp - 310 whp depending on how much boost, the gas you use and how well you tune it. Word of warning though, be careful how much you lean out on the emanage. If I remember right, it alters the map signal and when it's reduced it will lower the injector duty cycle but also increase the ignition timing. Leaning out very much at WOT will cause detonation so try to keep it making as little correction as possible.

so is better to stay with the 420a and boost it, than doing an engine swap from a 420a to a 4g63 turbo??? is that im just doing some research before making any move...and i wanna make sure i dont make a big mistake or soemthing...

angel_borikua, if you have a 420A then you are kinda limited to your options. Either turbo the 420A or buy a GST or GSX. As far as i know the 4g63 wont fit in the non turbo 2gs. Herd alot of people talk about doing it, but its just not worth the fabricating it would take to actually just get the 4g63 in there.

The 420a with those mods is a very capable motor. I am a believer now after going to the track and watching a 96 neon with a turbo setup running a 12.7 and three straight 12.8's on street tires.

Putting a turbo on your 420a is a much better idea. There is soooooo much involved in swapping in a 4g63t that it would be much cheaper to just buy a gst/x. I've had a turbo on my 420a for over 4 years now without any major problems. It's a good motor, work with it. By the way, click here and search/read the turbo forum until your eyes crust over: http://forums.2gnt.com/dcboard.php . You will have a much better understanding of what you are about to do when you're done.

Turbo, Exhaust manifold, Downpipe, Intercooler, piping, 310 cc injectors (preferred for 8 psi), Vortech SFMU, Synapse Missing Link (If you have a 96+ model), fuel return line (If you have a 96+ model), Wallbro 255l High pressure in tank fuel pump, boost gauge, egt gauge (optional but highly recommended), Fuel pressure gauge (not optional, required for tuning).

Once you get everything together, you will most likely find that it would have been much easier and about the same price to just buy a kit that comes with everything you need and instructions. Go here, this is what I would recommend for you: http://www.hahnracecraft.com/auto/eclipse/eclipse.htm
