What is a "ricer"?

I see the word used in most every thread, but what does "ricer" actually mean? I can tell it's not a good thing and it has to do with making stupid modifications. Is that it, or is there more to it? Why "ricer"?

Yes, I realize this question's probably been asked before, but doing a search on "ricer" gets so many threads full of people calling themselves or others ricers that you can't wade through all that. Life is to short to waste it reading messages left by a bunch of dirty ricers.

A riced out car is a car filled with visual modification with little to show for in the engine bay.

A ricer is a person who likes to show off all the time with little to show for in the brain.

The two usually fits perfectly but not always.

Outstanding word economy.

You've got 1200 posts. That must almost 2400 words.
Listen up douchecock Frenchie gave you a resource for your answer... Try stopping yourself next time before making a complete ass of yourself. Thats right Newbie I said complete, which mean you are not only an ass but the glory hole as well. So instead of letting more nugget representations of your lack of intelligent responses plop out, try squeezin your cheeks to keep your mouth shut. And just be thankful.

The word "rice" in rice burner refers to the fact that the vehicles the term was originally applied to were of Japanese origin, and the fact that rice is a staple food in East Asian cuisine. Its earliest usage is still in question, but examples include the term referring to Japanese motorcycles in the early to mid 1980s, and muscle car enthusiasts' jokes that cars from Japan used engines powered by rice alcohol.

Frenchie gave a great answer in as few words possible, thereby exhibiting excellent command of the english language. Appreciating that ability, I mentioned it. Frenchie read my reply and accepted my compliment for what it was.

Man, if accusing someone of "excellent word economy" qualifies as an insult, you guys are awfully delicate. I am glad that Frenchie, at least, got it.

And as for the term ricers...This guy in this mustang kept askin if i got rice in my car 'till i stomped that little stock 5.0 lol. (and I have very little visual mods and a loud bov, so apparently to the domestic guys think that ricers are anyone with an I4)

Yeah, I'd have guessed that "rice" had to do with Japanese cars too.

The term RICE has been around about as long as...well, rice itself.

Growing up around Harley Biker Guys, I heard the term a lot, specifically towards Yamaha and any other Japanese or Asian manufactured motorcycle. Since Asian cars really weren't too hot back then, it was rarely used for cars.

Rice is the 3" lowered Civic with the 4" exhaust, unpainted body kit (which will remain unpainted for the life of the car) Chicken wire in the air dam, a Wal-Mart 1000 Watt subwoofer with a 50 Watt amplifier, donuts for rear tires, the only two rims the kid can afford with bald low-pros on them on the front and still getting schooled by my unmodified 163k mile Eclipse with no trurbo and a leaky water pump and me simply accelerating briskly as I normally do, not racing, but mr. rice in the Civic sure thinks I am as he winds the motor up well into redline leaving a thick blue cloud of exaust the whole way and still not keeping up. The "dirty look" always preceeds any kind of percieved 'street combat' the ricer is involved in.

In real terms, I believe it has more to do with behavior than it would with the actual ethnicity of one's car or themselves, although it considered by many to be derogatory.

I think it's more cool to drive a reliable car and take care of it well. I have more respect for a kid who drives a car and accepts the fact that building a race car is simply beyond thier expertise, budget or necessity than one who tries foolishly and destroys a perfectly good car in the process.

Most ricer's care nothing about go fast. They only care about what they think looks good and is cool. They are usually 100% wrong in their choices.
Exactly!
