My car is FWD and when I am on the highway the car will make randomly make a sound much like grinding gears but much lower in pitch. The sound randomly comes and goes. I noticed at higher speeds it happens more frequent but does NOT prodoce any difference in sound pitch. When I hit a big bump(like going/coming off a bridge) it makes a sound very similar in pitch to grinding gears but lasts only like 1/2 second. It seems to happen more in the morning and sometimes doesn't even happen on the way home. I've read that a bad bearing will have sound that varies with speed. I am going to check to see if the wheel can be moved when its jacked up tonight or tomorrow. ANY input will be helpful!

Okay, so it is nothing to do with the wheel beaing. Something has come loose and is very loud when it vibrates. I have yet to find it but sounds like maybe something with the exhaust.
