actually mine was closing the door. my dad's lower hinges were giving in and the door kinda sags, well i had to lift it up to shut it right and the thing snapped when the door slammed shut. the door stopped, friggin handle kept going on.

What's with everybody's door handle breaking off!?! It doesn't take that much effort to open a car door does it?
In the winter, sometimes the door just doesn't wanna open...

My 95 Just Broke off too ! WTF ?

I went to open the drivers side door and it just broke off in my hand. WTF ! So how hard is this going to be to replace. I just replaced the clutch and flywheel in my car "ACT 2100-RRE lightened flywheel" and that was a BITCH ! Are we talking that kind of aggervation ? Anyone that can give a brief description on how to replace the handle?

damn bad year for door handles. someone make this thread a sticky. i bet by the end of february we could have like 40 guys in here with broken handles easily.

HEHE. This all reminds me of Tommy Boy. When they stop to get gas, Tommy bends the door back, and tries to shut it. When the guys breaks the handle off(at the dealership) give him a confused look and ask, "what'd you do?????" :D

I bet its because of the cold weather. The plastic stuff probably wasn't the best for cold weather, and after a couple years of stress and the cool air, they are probably just starting to go. I'll ask my dad about it, he's a plastic pro. Odds are 10 to 1 its something they shouldn't have used for the application. Maybe we can get a recall going.

Dammit you beat me to it! That was the first thing I thought I've when I read this thread.

It's shitty that it happens like that but if it were me I'd have some fun with it. First, I'd put it back on just enough that it won't fall off. Then I'd find the most anal person you know and have them go to whatever door and try to open it. When the handle comes off just be like "WTF was that for!?!?!?!?"

Add me too the list. My drivers side door handle is just about to pop off and requires just the right amount of English to open the door.

Coincidently, my hatch and passenger lock cylinders went bad, my power locks stopped working, and my power windows switch in the drivers door cracked and is now recessed into the door too far... all within a 6 week period or so.

not exactly a door handle...........

My stupid lever for my seat adjustment snapped off. I just sat there and stared at it for a while. I mean cmon....all i did was move my seat. I don't even have a dealer that I go to because I have all my work done through my mechanic. Stupid plastic junk...grrrrrrr

ROTFLOL .
LOL
LOL

Man , when i started to read that power window switch broke then the seat lach , that made mr fall off the seat .

I can tell all of you , that it is a POS plastic that they use . Even my 1G , if i'll start installing my alarm with remote start , i'll defenetly brake some thing .

Oh like those stupid plastic clips that hold the rear panels , etc.. , They are so Sun baked and then a really cold day . You know what happens new , crunch ,pop, ding ( that's when the rest of that clip falls inside your 1/4 panel.

BTW, it really sucks when every time you want to get in your car to drive somewhere you have to:

1. open your passenger side door
2. get in
3. reach across the car to open the drivers side door from the inside
4. get out and close passenger door
5. walk around the car
6. get in drivers side
7. hang your head in shame and pedal your POS car outta the parking lot as everyone points and laughs
