To keep it short, I bought a 98gst in 2002. The guy I bought it from said it had this and this and this. I just bought the damn thing cuz I loved it so much. Well now I want to know what I've got. I myself cannot tell by looking at it and I have no idea if there is anywhere around here(in Des moines Iowa) where I can take it to see what I've got. How do I find out?? The guy said it had a new turbo in it but I dont know what. And I know for a fact hes not bullshiting on some of the other parts he told me it had... like new IC piping and BOV and shit. but anyways...how do I find out what turbo I have??

I cant call him and ask him. I have no idea what his number is and for all I know the guy couldve been lying. It was years ago. I highly doubt it is the stock turbo but I have no idea. The reason I say I highly doubt its the stock turbo is because this thing moves. I have been in several stock eclipses and this one is ALOT faster. Is there any way I can tell just by looking at it or do all turbos pretty much look the same?

I believe the 16g's look very similiar to the stock turbo. You should get it dynoed.

yeah that should tell him what turbo it is... get it dynoed

It all just depends on the modifications the car has done to it. I mean, if you take car "A" (we'll say stock GSX) against car "B" (GSX w/ simple mods: intake, BOV, IC piping, exhaust)
Car "B" with just a few things will put atleast 6-7 car lengths in the 1/4 mile alone, and feel much faster than car "A" (DUH!)
What you should really do is dig around and take a good look at your car.. under the hood for modifications, interior for stashed away gauges.. Once you find something out dig around and find information about it.. hell who knows you may have a 14b turbo under the hood set at 14 psi or something close to that and it'll pull easily away from a T25 GSX. Take some time look around, and snap a couple of good pics.. so we can help you analyze what you have on your hands.

Well I went to the store to get some batteries for the digi cam. So tomorow Ill have pics. I know that I have these things for sure: Intercooler piping(not sure if its upper or lower or both) Greddy Type S BOV. ACT 2600(bought by myself) Greddy turbo timer. Greddy boost gauge.

When I bought this car I was told it had an aftermarket turbo(supposedly Greddy), ported and polished heads, the ecu was sent away somewhere(Im guessing Jet maybe?) 3in catback exhaust(supposedly Greddy again) and thats all I can remember. The guy I bought it from definatley had cash and he was about 35yrs. old and a total nut about cars and bikes and just speed in general. He bought the car from his buddy who was getting a divorce so he wasnt sure of all the exact parts and their brands. I bought the car, cuz well I loved it, I had to have it. Now I want to know what Ive got so I can go from there.

As far the turbo and speed of the car: I can hold about 1.2bar of bost of so. So thats about 17-18psi? When I bought it he told me if I got a new fuel pump the thing would be alot faster. So I dont know what to think. Part of me wants to just get a new fuel pump and see what happens. Would it hurt anything to do it even if I didnt have a turbo other than the t25?

I WILL take pics tomorow though. Thanks for all yalls help.

Ok now we at least have a starting point on where your at, and for your mods. yes you would definately feel the difference between a stock GST and your own. As far as how many psi your pushing your pretty much right on, seeing that 1bar is 14.5psi (correct me if I'm wrong) For the things that have been done, or are supposibly done to the car I would definately go with a bigger fuel pump.. probably the walbro 255 that you can easily find on e-bay. Also if and when you get the fuel pump, and if you don't have one already MAKE SURE you have some kind of logging device (pocket logger) for tuning (or a stand alone Engine manigment system like AEM), so your car won't run like crap or die on you. As far as your turbo, the best thing you could probably do for your car is get rid of that T25 if you have it.. but from reading what you wrote you could have a T4 from Greddy or Garrett.. it's really hard to say about the turbo w/out pics. and anything else to go on. Also if you can try to find out what size injectors you have, I'd recommend some denso 660's but you could go with smaller if there aren't aftermarket injectors on there already. One thing you definately could do to help yourself out with some HP is get a 3" downpipe, so you get rid of the stock log on there along with the cat (unless you have emission testing  ) but like I said it's really hard to give other options or opinions on what to do w/out knowing the exact set-up your running.. seeing how pretty much every set up revolves around what kind of turbo your running.. to know what kind of exhaust mani. you can run, if you need an adapter kit for a downpipe... so on and so forth.. oh and another biggie, if your going to be running a good amount of boost I also suggest a FMIC (front mount inter cooler) so you can turn up the boost a little more if you choose too.

Have you ever even looked in your engine bay? If so, do you know where and what the turbo is? If so, are you able to trace the piping that comes off the turbo, goes to the intercooler, from there to the bov, from there to the throttle body(AKA the Engine)? If so, then check to see if the pipe is hard/metal,if it is then it's aftermarket, if it's a soft hose then it's stock.
