Anybody know where could i find good cuality pistons and rings for a 6 bolt engine at a lower price than OEM Mtsu?
I don't need forged, just cast like OEM but not that expensive and as good as them. A set of OEM pistons and rings go for around $360.

Any links or something?

I found a pair of stores selling pistons on ebay:

But some people warned me that cheap ebay pistons are junk. The ring lands broke or something like this.

I'm afraid now as i don't want to have to rebuild again in a few months.

Are those topline any good?
I'm planning to run 20psi on pump gas.

You need to be more specific on that and what turbo you are running to help the op. 20 psi on say a T-25 vs 20 psi on a FP3065 is going to be a huge difference.
You need to read his signature where it says 16g:D

I actually thing he was talking to me...and if that is the case, I'm really not sure how 15-20psi could have any other variable other than the pressure. 15-20psi is still gonna be 15-20 psi no matter which turbo is building the referenced 15-20 psi. unless you are a physics scientist/ turbo builder that designed a turbo that fools a gauge by building more pressure than the gauge reads in which case you are the man.

Volume plays a HUGE part in pressure...
Bigger turbos flow more air than smaller turbos, so it flows a larger volume of air at the same pressure.

 Did you really just type that?

I am a physics major and the I can tell you 20 psi on one turbo WILL put a lot more wear on the engine than a turbo which flows much less cfm.

I emailed them both asking if they sell overseas but no replies yet.:(

#15 ·
Partsdinosaur doesn't ship overseas.
And extremepsi only ships by UPS what that meansend paying a lot of customer taxes. :(

Do you guys know somewhere else were they can have those kind of pistons and can ship USPS?

#17 ·
Found a store that cans end me topline pistons by USPS.
Thanks guys for your recommendations and advices.;)

by the way, any recommendations about the ring gap and piston to cylinder clearance i should leave them at?

#22 ·
So then, what options do i have?
You say Topline are junk, but partsdinosaur ones too?

As all we know OEM pistons aren't made by Mitsubishi. They don't have factories, an aftermarket company did them and sold them to mitsubishi.
So the thing is to find that company and buy their stuff not overpriced as Mitsu OEM parts.

Some people say Nippon is the company that manufacture OEM pistons, but i don't know where to get them. Nippon is the same as NPR??
Some vendors offer NPR rings, but not pistons.

I've seen NOA pistons, ITM, but not NPR.

Hey guys does anybody know the ring gap and piston to cylinder clearance i should leave on ITM 6bolt 0.020" overbore pistons from PartsDinosaur?

Same gap and clearance as stock ones or would you guys use different numbers?

EVOIII 16G ~22psi, 93 pump gas, 264/272 cams, 720cc injectors...

Some OEM companies do sell aftermarket, but that doesn't mean their aftermarket parts are of the same quality. Often they will use poorer quality parts that they can't use to the OE customer. This isn't always the case, but it can happen quite often. For example, pistons could be made out of a lower grade material, to looser tolerances, bigger weight differences, looser surface finish requirements, etc,... Some aftermarket forged pistons aren't that expensive. Pistons, rods, bearings, studs, are engine parts that I wouldn't try to cut corners on.

Oh yeah, to the guy talking about the 20 psi is 20 psi. Pressure means almost nothing. The amount of air in the cylinder is what's important. The resulting pressure (final pressure, not initial) of the amount of air being compressed is what creates the significant load. So a low pressure from a high flowing turbo can have a higher force, than a high pressure from a small turbo.

I already got pistons from Partsdinosaur. Now only remains to know the right clearances and ring gap.

Any help?
