Today on my way home from work, I noticed a constant humming/whining sound coming from underneath the car. When I pressed in the clutch pedal to shift, I noticed the sound got a little bit louder. The sound is not present at idle speeds, only when Im moving, which makes me thinks its the tranny.

I jacked up the car and checked it out all underneath, there are no visible leaks around the transmission.

Any suggestions as to what this could be? I changed out the tranny fluid with BG Syncroshift about 6000 miles ago.
Thanks guys,
Mike

I second the throwout bearing. Some times its constant and changes when clutch is pushed in, but sometimes it may go away completely only to come back. Have a shop look at it and if it is in fact the throwout bearing I suggest you fix it quick because mine went through the pressure plate soon after making noise.

Definitely sounds like the throwout bearing or something else that has happened to me before. I had a spring break off and get wedged between there. It made a scraping noise for a little bit. Then it became totally lodged in there and I couldn't shift. Pull the tranny off and see what it is.

okay my car made the whining sound, but only when i used the clutch. I had to shift maybe 3 times on the way home and by the last one it was so hard to get into gear and no it wont go in gear at all and clutch pedal is on floor. What could it be?
Definitely going to have to pull the tranny and check TOB and linkage/condition.

Pulled off the tranny and the TOB looks good but the pressure plate has gouge marks from where the tob makes contact with it. should i leave the pressure playte in there with the gouges and replace the TOB or should i wait a week and buy a hole clutch kit?? Need car running ASAP, cant miss to much work!
