well, i have the 97-99 5spoke eclipse rims on my 95 GS-T. (i have the stock swirlies in the garage). what are the widest tires that can fit on them, im pretty sure that GS-X's come with 215s dont they?

If you want an official answer, I'd go to Tire Rack's web site at http://www.tirerack.com and do a tire search of the tire size you want to put on your stock rim. Pick a tire and go to "Specs". On that page they will have a complete listing of all tire sizes available for the tire you picked. Find the tire size you want and look at the "Recommended Rim Width" for that tire. The recommended rim width range for a 235/45R17 is between 7.5 and 9 inches. I suppose you could push it a bit and squeeze the same tire on a 7 or even a 6.5 inch rim like the stock wheels and it probably wouldn't be a big deal. I've seen pictures of an Eclipse that had 235/45R17's on the stock wheels and it didn't look bad. :)

do u have a pic of what those 225's look like on the stock rims???

No sorry, I don't. They don't look bad, but they do roll in a little. That's why I'm getting a 7" rim. I'd go with an 8", but I can't find a rim I like that's 16x8. I'm doing it for performance reasons. Aesthetically it's not bad.

wow jepeckham that looks really good. so im guessing i could put 225's on my 6" rims easily right?

Like Mike said the 225's will fit but they WILL roll over some in hard turns. I would just put 215/50's on them stock rims but if you get 225's it would help to get tires with a stiff sidewall.

what tires have stiff sidewalls?

Usually, the higher the speed rating, the stiffer the sidewall. If you're putting fatter tires on stock rims (i.e. 225/50R16 or 235/45R17), I'd get at least a Z speed rated tire or better.

If you look at the recommended rim width for a 225/50R16 on TireRack's web site, it says 6-8 inches which suggests that they should work fine on the stock wheels.
