Would you do this?

I want to get a 3inch exhaust turbo back, but like most people I dont have the cash. So rather then running open downpipe I went with the next best option that is. I live next to the border so, I asked the price for a 2.5inch exhaust and I was told 60 dollars for the full turbo back exhaust. Keep in mind that this is with a press bend tube and yes i know that it wont flow as good compared to a 3" mandrel bent tube. The thing is that it cant be any worse then the stock pipe, can it? I currently have a test pipe and a muffler so is it worth it? Or should I buy the 3" mandrel bends and have the shop do the rest with 3" tube. Opinions please.

Might as well do it right the first time. If you get the 2.5" press bent, eventually, you will probably switch to 3" mandrel... so I'd say might as well get 3". It's really not too expensive either.. you can find nice deals on ebay(Megan, Tsudo), or have a shop bend you the piping. I've heard people that do it the 2nd way usually spend less than 300 bucks. Just make some calls and see what different shops can do for you.

Agreed? Why not 3" press bent instead? Doesn't a really good press bent 3" flow around a 2.75" mandrel anyway?
Who gives a shit.
Its cheap.

But consider this. Your stock 2.25 will be about the same as a 2.5" press bent BS job.
I wouldn't do that at all. Thats a waste of money.

Buying the mandrels from Summit and welding it up will be so cheap... even in comparison to the local shop building an exhaust... but only for the true DIY'er.
I'd buy the down pipe. And have the rest made.
Its worth buying a T-pros or megan down pipe off ebay so you get a good flange at the o2. I wouldn't really trust an exhaust shop to pull that off.
They're so cheap. You'd be stupid not to just buy one.
But I'm not all about buying "XYZ" exhaust systems.
Get it made.
Mandrel if you can swing it.
