Whats the advantage of the 2.5 inch pipe over the 2.25 inch pipe. I have the small greddy FMIC but i dont really want to buy the greddy piping kit. Who makes good Upper intercooler pipes? I know dave brode but i dont really wanna hafta paint the pipe, and dejontool has 2.25 inch pipes. Who sells 2.5 inch pipes?

The obvious advantage to 2.5" pipes is that they will flow more. They will also increase your spool time potentially because of the extra volume of the pipes. That being said I have made custom full 2.5" pipes and have noticed no ill effects on my spool time.

If you are going with a relatively small turbo or the stocker I don't see that the increase in diameter from 2.25" to 2.5" will benefit you but with a larger turbo (20G for example) you may want that extra flow.

I personally would stick to 2.25 pipes for the MF1L2 Mutt. It is not that big of a turbo, and the smaller pipes will spool faster.

And no, don't get the GReddy pipe kit - it is overpriced. My GF has the kit on her car, and it doesn't even look very good - which is a surprise considering the price. HRC makes a great upper I/C pipe, but their customer service sucks so that is a bit of a crap shoot.

I have the Buschur pipe which is nice, good customer service, but their prices are a bit high. If I had it to do over again, I would probably order from Dejon.

Actually, the 2G TB elbow is a bottleneck w/ 2.5" pipe (unless the setup include mounting to the TB directly). Another limiting factor is the 2G TB. So, 2.25" seems like a good choice unless you plan to have 1G TB.
I have even heard of 3" UICP. I dont know how it works but but sounded an overkill to me.
In respond to your question, you can drill two more holes for Greedy Type S BOV to fit.

I have an Extreme Motorsports UIC pipe, it is 2.5 inches, coated, and goes all the way to the throttle body, eliminating the elbow. It is awesome, I would reccomend it, it is pricey though. And yes, I think you might see some difference between it and the 2.25 with a Mutt L2.

Well, I have a big 16G and am working on 2.5" IC piping right now. Should I stick with the 2.25" ? I don't quite understand the theory of how a hard pipe with larger volume will cause you to spool slower? Yeah, I understand, more volume to pressurize, but there's no expansion of the pipe so the turbo won't have to work as hard at keeping it at 16 PSI or whatever, running more efficiently, thus cooler, thus increasing HP. Plus, if you have a 3" exhaust, you have a bottleneck in your intake with the puny stock 1.5" system and want to upgrade to 2.5" evening things out. Am I babbling again?? Sorry, forgot to take my pill.. :)
Thoughts? does this make any bit of sense whatsoever?
