I can get a really good deal on a low milage 2g motor I kno a machine shop that would be able to put a 1g oil pump on it. I wanted to kno what would i have to do about the motors mounts or would i just use the ones for my car and what about all of the electrical connections

well i wouldnt' say better the only problem with a 2g motor is crankwalk seeing as I'm auto I dont have to worry and I kno a guy who works for a machine shop who wants to sell me a 2g longblock cheap thats in perfect condition he's gonna do the 1g oil pump swap but i wanted to kno what wires sensors etc... that I'd have to change.

I'm thinkin all I'd have to do is swap out the waterneck with mine from the 1g and do the knock sensor thing to were it doesn't show knock at all but i wanted to kno what would i have to do about the motor mounts.

Its been really really hard finding a good condition 6 bolt motor. Got scammed once already so I don't plan on getting a motor shipped and 2 guys have already backed out on sellin the motor and I've never once lowballed so this seems like the best alternative to get my car on the road as soon as possible

thats pretty random and backwards , 2g ina 1g.. ....if i were you i would just put another 1g motor back in n save your self a headache and a half...stronger motor more fun less things that you can run into compared to if sumthing goes wrong with this mickey mouse exercise then your guna be surfing the search boards asking for help...but thats jus my opinion

There are no mounting bosses for the motor mounts on a 2G block. Won't work without serious modification.

hmm really well the way I'm thinking is that it would be the same as the 6 bolt block since u can bolt up a 1g block to a 2g without major modification why would u be able to for a 1g I kno both cars have rear lower front lower and driver side mount for the engine and the ones for the tranny how would they be different. I'm not doughting you but i just wanna kno

On the 1g cars (6 and 7 bolt) the engine mount brackets bolt to the motor. On the 7 bolt (2g) car they bolt on the sides of the transmission. So there is on;y 1 mount that bolts to the engine. It is not going to work, yeah it could be done with the right machinist to do some measuring amd cutting the brackets, but it is going to be a pain in the ass, you are going to spend more trying to get that motor mounted in there than what it is worth. besides the fact that it is a 7 bolt. Whay kind of deal is he making you on this 7 bolt, for me to even attempt to put a 2g motor in a 1g car, it would have to cost me 100 bucks for a fully built motor. I do alot of custom work with swapping motors in random things, but never would i try and take that on. Just buy a 6 bolt, or have yours rebuilt by that machinist that is trying to hook you up on that motor. Shouldn't be any more than 1,000 bucks.

dsmbuilder is right. The lack of motor mounts on the 2gen motor is why you can't do the swap.
What happened to your old motor?

seized up therefore I think spun bearings didn't really have a knock before it went and compression was 150 across the day it blew but i pulled the head let it sit outside and lost bolts thats why i wanted to just get a motor to drop into the car

Most people, probably that machine shop also, have spare bolts laying around from when they built there car. If you've had a problem with buying a complete engine then you might want to think about reusing whatever is good on your motor and just buying the parts you need, atleast a crank, oil pump, rebuild kit. Then have your machine shop rebuild it for you. He could take a look at all your parts and tell you if they are still in good condition.
I don't have any 7 bolt stuff so I can't help you out but I see the stuff on Ebay all the time selling cheap, as long as they have over 10 + feedback and no - feedback it's probably safe. I've had 1 problem with almost 150 buy/sells. You just have to look at it and ask yourself if it looks legit.
