Hey all,
I'm new to this DSM thing and need a bit of help.
I got a hold of a 91 Talon about a month ago and can't seem to get it running right. For the most part it will rev up fine in neutral, but when I hit the throttle seems to hesitate for a split second, and then rev. While driving things are much worse. At different rpms and in all gears the car will sputter and lose all power. I can give it more throttle while sputter and it seems to get passed the issue and take off, but when rpms drop it all starts over. If I ease into the throttle the problem doesn't seem to be as bad. With all of the research that I have done I can't seem to solve this issue.
Here is a list of modifications...
91 Talon TSI
NGK plugs and wires
T3/T4 turbo
Tial 38mm wastegate
HKS bov
Megan exhaust
GM MAF is installed but not hooked up. (using stock)
Safc II
Wideband

I'm not sure if my safc is set right.
I'm lost here so if anyone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated.
If you need to know anything more I'll answer anything that I have knowledge of.
Thank you everybody for your time.

Have you done the fuel filter? That is a common symptom for a bad filter or even a bad MAF. I have had both do that. However now that I mention MAF, it could even be a leak in the plumbing after the MAF.

As for the Safc, check the Vfaq for a helpfull diagram. Apexi's website also has downloadable and printable user manuals for the products. If not sure if it is correct then turn off the correction feature. Why is the translator not hooked up?

And check for boost leaks with a pressure tester at like 15psi. Chances are your loosing air between the MAF and the O2 sensor.

The guy that I got the car from obviously pulled it before handing the car over to me. Do I need the translator or is the maf causing some sort of problem sitting there as is?
As for the fuel filter, no, I have not replaced it yet.

Replace that in the mean time. He pulled the SAFC out? Did he reconnect the wires for it?

Yes, then get rid of that MAF cause it's just doing nothing then. So the translator was removed. However the factory MAF is still there and plugged in correctly? What is going on with the SAFC?

There is a way to turn off the corective feature.
