i'm lookign to push out 400 whp...these axles aren't as strong as the regular fwd ..their skinnier, but provide better grip and handlind due to the fact that they are equal lenght.. do you think their alot easier to break?i guess it just depends how i drive it..

well i got equals in mine, and havent seen a problem yet, big probs i have is i keep breaking trannies  i also drive it like i stole it

you will prob kill the trans but, ya know what they say, you gotta pay if ya want to play, however your axles prob wont see a problem

You do need different axle seals for the awd. They are pn MD719710 for the front driver side. The pass side is stock (duh). http://www.vfaq.com/index-main.html has the install under drivetrain, axles, equal-length. Im in the process of doing it right now. It says that the axle will handle ~ 300-350 hp. You will need a spacer. I made one from part of an Aluminum door frame. It has to be about 1 mm thick. Stick the seal in and measure the play and construct something close. I siliconed it in but i dont know if it will work (im guessing it will). Post if you have more questions.

i have already got the axles today at a local used parts junkyard..got both front axles for $50.00..now all i need is the axle seals from an awd right? all 90-94 are the same. am i correct?

You could've used the stock front pass side axle but its always good to have spares :D . Its the same fwd or awd. You just need the awd driver side. Leave the stock pass seal in and remove the driver side seal. Make a spacer (flat piece of aluminum bent and shaped like a circle)out of a ~1mm thick piece. Trim it flush with the surrounding alunimum case(push it in, mark, trim, and repeat). It took me about three or four times to get it perfect. The aluminum touching the diff will remove itself(miniscule amounts, not to worry). Silicone it and the seal in, leaving enough time to cure (24 hrs). Be sure to test fit the seal and spacer before siliconing. I had the trans out when i did this (much easier). Clean the threads on the block with a tap and bolt on the drivers side. I needed new tie rod ends after the project but you maybe wont, i dont know. After this mod i dont spin third nearly as much so it definately helps. I know they switched spline sizes or counts after mid 92 so you probably want 90-92.5.

i'm replacing the passenger side also because it's also bad...the boot has been ripped for over 2 years..it's got 145.000 miles on it..all original axles.lol.
pretty impressive..i have laways babied the car from day 1..

i have never did any of that, i have just replaced the seal with a stocker one not the awd one, and have never had a leak at all, yeah they are different , but it really isnt going to cause any issues unless you dont get it in the right way

I dont know what transmission your running quikchic. Im guessing the awd tranny modded to fit fwd but the front wheel drive trannys need the awd drive seal. It has three sealing surfaces compared to the fwd with two surfaces. In the mitsubishi parts manual, it lists different seals for the fwd's and the awd's. You have to have a different seal. I tried to do it without the awd seal and it pissed the fluid all over the ground. You have to make and test fit the spacer (take the awd seal and place it where the fwd seal was and move it around, then mark the distances). You place in the transmission where the fwd seal was then put in the awd seal. If this is too involved then take it to a shop or just stay with unequal lenght shafts. This is fabrication. You have to figure out how you want the seal to fit (it must be tight), then figure out how to make it fit. It takes some intuition but im sure you can figure it out. :D

i'm sure once i figure out about the spacer and where it goes exactly that i will be able to do it...i just don't know where the spacer is going to go.. where am i placing the spacer? before the axle seal? inside the trans?
