I would try some MEK, just be careful not to get it onto any other painted surfaces. It should wipe right off with a rag. Do not use stripper as you will not get all of it washed out of the fins and it will corrode through within a few months.
It was duplicolor metallic gun metal gray rim paint...I use it cause its thicker and suppose to be scratch and chip proof but guess that only goes for being on rims...a friend told me to try that jet/aircraft paint remover stuff but im scared it might eat through the intercooloer....
Again do NOT use stripper, even if you wash it out when you are done you will not get it all off. And it will corrode through. Try the MEK it will wipe it right off.
That is a dilemma you got there. I would think almost anything that would eat paint would also eat aluminum. If you do manage to get it off. You will probably still see were it was.
You can't just wipe it off since that would bend the fins so I would try putting laquer thinner in a spray bottle and spraying the area a few times to loosen and weaken the paint. Keep it wet, don't let it dry out. Then while it is still wet with the solvent, use a water hose with a spray tip to blast it off.
I used laquer thinner in a spray bottle, let it sit for 5ish minutes and pressure washed it all off with hot water. It took all the black paint off.
