latley my car has been sort of bogging down.. refusing to accelerate.. like tonigh I was crusing down the highway and hit forth kinda hard and the car wouldent accelerate past 4500 rpm.. pedal to the floor.. it just sat there.. you could feel it kinda.. let off itself.. I took my foot of the gas and pressed it again and it accelerated fine.. ????? obviousley this is no good for racing.. and its not just 4th.. ALL gears do it.. and it seems pretty random..

my guesses are:

COULD BE:

a: wires

B: distributer

C: plugs

I very very much doubt its the plugs because they are NGKs with less than 7k on them.. they should be fine...

so, what yall think? any ideas?

P.S. I dont get a check engine light or anything from this either..

also on a side note.. I turned my boost DOWN and i seemed to get FASTER.. what the heck.. t25 cant hack 15 pounds with stock exhaust? (soon to be gone stock exhaust)

It just occured to me that I have never changed the fuel filter.. so that may very well be it.. I found it.. down on the firewall behind the battery..

how do you go about "disconnecting the fuel pump harness from the back of the fuel tank" so says my chiltons manual.. but I see NO harness anywhere on the tank back there

???

If all the mechanical stuff looks ok ie your plugs, wires, no leaks etc, etc, check your ECU. Your caps may be leaky and may have leaked onto your injector maps. This will cause the car to intermintantly bog at random times, speeds, gears and rpms.

You shouldn't have to disconnect the harness to swap out fuel filters. One of my buddies (black20fwd) and I just changed his out (95 GST). He had the similiar symptons, couldn't get rpms past 3,000 on the highway or street. All we did was remove the battery and then replace fuel filter. When we loosened the fuel lines from the old fuel filter I quickly put my thumb over the intake side and just for $hits and giggles I poured it out onto the street and the fuel looked like straight watery oil. Way clogged up filter.
But on another note, check out the other suggestions that "blackboost" and "updoc21" stated. But if it is lacking fuel beware of detonation. This is how "black20fwd" and I found out that his filter was clogged. Piston three detonated and we were lucky that it was only minor.

On the top of the fuel filter there is a hexed part right below where the fuel line goes for the fuel rail. You put the wrench there and the other on the bottom fuel line. You turn the wrenches the opposite way and it will loosen. I know exactly what you are talking about, it took alot for me to loosen it but it will loosen. Try to set the top wrench against the firewall somehow that way you can put both hands on the bottom wrench for more force.

well ive got ahole of the bottom and have a wrench holding the top.. and I can move the bottom.. but its not coming loose.. I can turn the bottom wrench a little bit at a time.. but its not just popping loose like the top did.. its still hard to turn.. it makes me wonder if im loosening the bolt or twisting something...this is making me worry..

Yeah, for the first few threads it will do that. It seemed liked it was forever when taking it off and my arm got tired after a while, because you can only turn it a little each time, but once you pass that beginning section up you will see that you can twist it by hand. Also installing the new one it will do that again once you get to that particular section. Just be patient and take some breaks.

well.. im giving up, I got both wrenches on and everything, but I just cant break the bottom loose.. even with 2 hands, there is just no way.. no leverage.. no hope, I guess ill just explore the rest of the possabilities and pay good money for some mechanic to replace the filter :( :( :(

If I'm right, the hole in the bolt doesn't need to line up. The piece attached to the fuel line, which is where the bolt went through, is almost like hollow. No matter which way the holes are facing in the bolt, once tightened, the fuel will still be flowing in the hose. Anyone else, am I right?

well i got them lined up.. took a little "umph* but i got it, now im idleing the car to let the computer get its learn on.. I guess ill check the plugs, and the ECU.. BTW the ECU is under the driver's seat yes? and what exactly whould I look for in the way of problems with it?

since I put it all back toegther it hasnt done it.. but one thing I read was that sometimes condensation can build in the spark plug recesses.. and this can cause yer spark to jump and ground to the engine and cause hesetation and bogging.. it should do it more in the morning or when its damp outside.. that wasnt the prob in my case though (Ichecked)

thats not my problem either... this was at a nice night not much humidity or condensation... basically my car doesnt just bog... it jsut DOESNT GO it sits there and i can hold down the gas.... get nowhere untill i let off and get back on it... it cant be a boost leak... its the entire engine not just the turbo pulling... the entire engine just stops going then when i let off it works again.... basically its got to be soemthing with the engine... i think it could have been your fuel filter.. how much was it to purchase etc... do me a favor and email me conceyted@cox.net ... i want to keep in contact with you incase anything happens and that didnt fix the problem or nothing happens and it did...
