Ok well I have a 91 Eagle Talon TSI and ever since I got the car it has had a idling problem that is not surge. It just can't find a steady spot and hold. Here is a list of things i've done to try and fix this so far: New isc, new gaskets, no leaks, bypassed fiav, new tps put into spec, new o2, and cleaned tb. I have also checked with my ohm meter multiple times and everthing is all in spec. Back to my check engine light.. So i'm driving home from the All Mitsu Cookout and I noticed on the highway in 5th gear when I left off the gas on deccel my check engine light would come on. Then when I went back and gave it gas it would go off. Then when I made it back home and my car was just idling it would stay on. So whenever i'm idling it goes on, but once I hit the gas it goes off.. Anyone else ever have this problem? I'm hoping that this will finally tell me what is wrong and my idle will be FIXED!

So it does it when the system is in vacuum? Could be a bad vacuum leak. Kind of strange though the CEL is sort of "switched on" by the throttle, never heard of that.
I could sit here and guess a million reasons why you get a CEL at idle, or you could simple just pull the code and know right away whats wrong..
I don't know about a 1st Gen, but on mine when the IAC goes crazy the CEL stays on, not just when its in vacuum or idling. My check engine light has been on so long I'm sure its on for more than one code now lol. Which reminds me I need to scan it at work tomorrow.
I'm about to leave to go to work right now and if we're not busy i'll see what the code is. Yes it is when i'm in vacuum only and once in awhile when it idles good and stays steady my inhg is at 18 on the boost gauge.
Well I didn't get a chance to scan it at work today. Maybe tomorrow. I just put this up to see if anyone has had it happen to them and could tell me what they did to fix it. Also I messed with my car a little more today and when I first start the car (cold) it's not on and it idles great like before. Then it starts getting warm and turns back on and it idles like crap like always. While just sitting there and idling I can make it blink on and off with the throttle and it's kinda funny. Hopefully tomorrow I will get it scanned or sometime soon.
I've had a similar situation while at cruising speed on the freeway. Sometimes it can be fuel trims running too lean. Do you have any type of fuel control.4g63tcrazy said:

No fuel control as of now. My safc should be here tomorrow. Here's my mods: Spearco FMIC. Gasket matched 2g exhaust manifold. 2g o2 housing. Ported Evo 3 turbo. Logger. Cat delete. Emissions removed. A/C removed. Cruise control removed. Magnaflow muffler. Ported 2g TB elbow. 3" intake w/ K&N filter. MBC @ 11psi.
I also want to mention that the car idled even worse when I first bought it and it was bone stock. After modding it started to get a little better, but now it just does what it wants.

No I have not received it yet. "Axemurderer" said he would send me a tracking number but never did.. He also hasn't responded to any of my pm's! I hope it is on it's way though.
