Hey guys, my damn lighter is not working, fuse is good, even replaced it just in case and nada. The little light trim works but hte damn lighter itself does not work. I tried charging my phone and powering my gtech and nothing..

Two common problems on later DSM's:

Either the connector got yanked on the cig lighter socket from behind, or the fuse isn't making good connection in the fuse panel. To test if it's the fuse connection, just pull the fuse out and twist the terminals a small amount and reinstall.

actually it turns out its just the lighter itself is rusty and old so it was not getting good conection..i moved it arund a bit and it worked....thanx guys..

Dammit, the previous owner of mine had let it rust out.. .but I can't find a replacement cigarette lighter! All the aftermarket ones do not have the little slot for the lights etc, and no-one on the DSM-trader has one so far! Pep-boys doesn't have one.. and of all the last places to do, I am not going to the dealer Any suggestions?

Im having a problem with mine too. The lighter itself will work but when I plug in a adapter for a cell phone or something it wont charge it. I know its not the Adapters Ive tried like 5 of them.

Don't test the cigarette lighter with the car off, by the way. At least in my 1G, the lighter socket is on only when the car is on. Why, I don't know.

mine is that way too. I have my amps remote wire connected there it was the only wire i could find that wasnt HOT constantly unless the car was on

What about the remote turn-on wire from the headunit?

Its a stock head unit i didnt feel like pulling that thing out to search for it, if there is one. I dont think any stock unit has a Remot turn on lead.

Well, you could have used the stock power wire for the radio; it works the same as a remote turn on except remote turn on's are only on when the radio is, not just when the car is on.
