Ok for about a week now my car has a little bit of trouble starting in the morning. It would turn but not start and after several tries it would start and would be fine for the rest of the day. About 3 days ago my car would cut out and almost die while I was driving. It would make some clicking noises behind the cd player.

I put some fuel injector cleaner in my car and changed the fuel filter. The next day it still had some problems starting but ran ok for the rest of the day, yesterday my car started just fine in the morning. It gave some starting problems during my lunch hour, but after work and all night it was fine.

Today on my way into town it cuts out several times on the highway and every time it cut out i would hear a clicking noise behind the cd player.

Could this be a computer issue? Someone said something about a fuelcut relay. anyone got any ideas?
A respnose would be very appreciated.
thanx,
AleX

I didnt really notice any smells, but it is a possibility cause i wasnt sniffing around or anything.

The car sat for about an hour and then when I got back to it, it ran just fine, couldnt have been better actually(nice cool night).
Anyone else got anything to say about this?

btw thanks for the reply Rodman.

I puy fuel injector cleaner and my car was doing the same thing afterwards...now it's not running because my cam sensor isn't gettting power..when i turn the key to the 'on' position my rpm goes nuts..redlining and everything..without being started and it clicks begind the cd player.

hey guys, it is most definitely the ecu. i just went through the same thing. my stock boost gague would go up and down with the key on, and my rpm would go haywire also. i didnt smell the fishy smell right away. but anyways i replaced my ecu and wow, did that make all the difference. trust me.

yo, do a search. everyone is telling you it is the ecu. IT IS THE ECU. classic symptoms. are you qualified to "look at it and it looks ok"? the caps sit right on the board, when they leak, it goes thru the board, then, in advanced stages, you will see the goo. by then it is usually too late. even now it may be too late. the caps cost about a a quarter, changing them takes about 30 minutes, unless you dont know how to solder. if they have leaked on the board, now you have to check all the connections, which take a lot longer. a new ecu is 1100. reman is around 350, and most of the time they are junk, too. a used one is 100 and up, and some of them are junk, too. but, hey, dont believe us, keep driving it. then, when it goes out, it CAN take the mfi relay with it, along with the coil, cas, AND the isc. THEN, you will be troubleshooting forever.
