The code will still be stored even if the CEL isn’t on. As long as you didn’t unplug the battery. Is the radiator new or used? Did you flush the system? Did you replace the thermostat when doing the radiator? Did you burp the cooling system? How hot did the engine get? let us know.

I would check the t-stat fist. I wouldn't be so quick to say that it’s the head gasket. Simple things first. And if it isn’t the t-stat go get a hydrocarbons tester. And test it to see if it is the head gasket before ripping the head off.
