Ugly, Leave your tailights stock. If it were a black car, it might look ok.

If you want to spice up the looks, get some rims and lower it a bit.

GOOD GOD do not, I repeat do not do that! For the sake of Talons everywhere. :D
Honestly though, I think it really does look like crap.

There is some spray on tint called Nite Shades. I just ordered a can for $18 shipped. Talon taillights look great tinted, just do the whole thing, all the way across. The more coats you put on, the darker it gets, so if you don't want it too dark, just don't put alot on. That's just one suggestion.

You could also do the "red taillight mod", meaning turn the orange into red. I'm not sure how they do this though, I think it's just painted with special transparent red paint. That would look okay too.

Are you asking about painting the whole center section body color?
If so, you could do it, but I don't know why you'd want to because if you do the red taillight mod, it'll be body color anyway. I think it would look fine like that.

has anybody ever filed off the "Talon" part on the rear lights?

I would think a dremmel then a smoothing with sand paper might work....but i know nothing about body work.
i've never taken a close look at the actual talon part on the tail lights..but if im not mistaken all you would need to do is take a heat gun, and a credit card...and heat, and peal...repeat, repeat, repeat.

Actually, I think that looks pretty good, as long as you leave the TALON letters black.
It's your car, so do whatever makes you happy with it. IMHO, that would be a good choice.

The letters are molded plastic (molded with the center piece as one unit, then painted black).
I have a spare center section and I was just looking at it. If you kept it orange, you couldn't shave it, because underneath it's different than the rest of the orange (There's a silver lining inside I think that gives it it's reflectivity, and it still spells out TALON underneath the plastic). You would be able to see it.
However, if you wanted to paint it with a solid body color or something, it might work, as long as it was sanded down perfectly flush and smooth (would be a PITA, IMO).
I personally like the TALON on the back, it lets people know what just smoked their ass! :D

That looks good if you paint the center section the body color and then paint the amber lenses red to match your taillights. Just take your time and make sure you do it right. Do not please do not do the first idea you had with the mask blackout lenses.

i painted my tailights all red and the middle part black to match the car and it looks killer. dont forget to cover your reverse lights so they stay white.
1loudtalon, could you post a pic of this, I want to do something different to my car but unique, this is the first time I ever thought about paintint the center section black (like the body color).

Also anyone got pictures of blacked out taillights on a black 2gen talon?

I think this is the best way to change up the back of a Talon.
I wanted black but the body guy did it in green, oh well.
BTW, I used nightshade paint on the reverse lights.
