Cyclone intake manifold..better?

just had a question about the cyclone intake manifold that came with my jdm engine, was told at first that it was quite restrictive, and it was better to put the stock one back on from my old engine, so when I finally did it felt like it pulled alot harder before with the cyclone. Is there a difference power wise between the two? Or am I just feeling things?

You will need an Extra FPR Solenoid, One Way Vaccum Canister (From JDM motor or new Eclipse with Variable induction), and the Keydiver Chip with Cyclone code. If you do not have all of the above do not waste your time. In drag racing the Cyclone has NO benefits over the stock manifold, fyi. So if that was your only concern, forget it. It is more for low Rpm torque, around town driving, and again only helps below 4100rpm when hooked up properly.

i have a cyclone manifold, the owner before me had gotten it, and he threw it in with the parts he gave me, it does not look like it has butterflies, it just looks like a normal intake manifold. it does say cyclone on it though... what is the difference between this one and a normal 1g manifold, i havnt had the chance to really compare by eye

The way I have mine hooked up, and the way some other people I know have done it, is to take an old wastegate actuator, and mount it so that it opens the butterflies at 5-6psi. On my car, that happens around 3400rpm. It works pretty good that way. If you want to do it all electronic and factory like, you can do the keydiver chip, but there are ways to do it on a budget.

I have a cyclone intake manifold hooked up properly. I am always ahead of Mustangs and Hondas. You can feel the difference on low end, but can't really notice the change on top. Get one and try it before you post that it kills you on top end.

From what I understand, stock for JDM, the JDM intake outflows the stock intake by 1cfm. I feel the power gained down low and in the midrange is well worth any loss the ass dyno might feel up on top. With the HKS 272's in my car, it's a noticeable difference down low between the two intakes. I haven't noticed ANY difference in the top end.

Yea having felt both of them on the low and high end, I did feel a difference with the cyclone on low end, but really no difference on high end. Since I have the 1st gen intake on now, and I love spanking v8 ass on the highway, I guess its really not worth my time to switch them out again :D

you think i've never had a cyclone intake manifold? haha...you must be runnin a small turbo with the stock redline, huh? even w/ a 16G you can tell the difference. you can definitely tell the difference when you're runnin a 35R w/ a 10k redline. why don't you try it?
If youre trying to run a stock (be it 1g or cyclone) manifold with a 35R, then youre going to be down on power regardless...

I think Ill believe the dyno #s Ive seen on NABR vs. your anus dyno.

The graph I saw with an Evo3 16g had nice gains in the low end, then after a 4100 rpm switch-over had pretty much the same power as the over layed 1g dyno.

Also, not all of us here only care about peak numbers. My car being a frequent DD and auto-x car can using all the extra low end numbers she can get.

Yea like I said before, Im not TOO modded right now, just your basic big16 and supporting mods, but yea I guess since I have my 1st gen on right now, Ill just leave it on, but later on when I have spare time Ill probably slap my cyclone back on and see if I can feel any differences, it has been a while since Ive had the cyclone on, when I did I barely got the 16g put on, but yea thanks for all the input guys.

Fairly small turbo (Frank Jr) with an 8500rpm redline. And it pulls hard through 8000.
