were there any major improvements done during this time period? i tried the search button but couldntfind anything. if you guys could answer or send me in the right direction i would really appreciate it. thinking about buying a 1995 gsx that has the exterior and interior changed to a 1999.. wondering what would still be different.. thanks in advance

Mechanical differences.....

The 99 tranny's were double syncro'd whereas the 95's weren't.
The 95's suffered from CW more than any other year.
The 95's CAS is on the other side of the head.
The 95's have an EPROM ecu.

That's all I can think of at the moment......

i bought a 95 gsx that im making into a monster and turning it into 97 front rear turbo spoiler...

No point in buying a 99 for more money when you can make a 95 look like it....

97's actually had the highest occurence of crankwalk. Early 95's(pre-1/95 build date) rarely walk.

Any links to backup the double syncro thing? My stock tranny shifted better than any 99 I've driven, including some with lower miles -- all bone stock. AOTBE the 99 would wear MUCH slower and shift smoother for longer.

We had a survey on here about 1.5-2 years ago to gather CW info.. stock clutches vs aftermarket didn't REALLY make any difference that we could see... and the 95s and 97s seemed to CW the most... although I'd bet 97s were more likely.. .seeing they would have 2 years less mileage on them and were CWing the same or more than 95s.

Was very interesting, but not to be taken seriously as people with CW and within the DSM community were much more likely to reply.

I agree about the interior, so I just got a 97-99 interior parts, and made my own door panels.

my TSi was built 10/8/94 , my 7 bolt walked, i have eprom and OBD-II, wich even advanced autoparts had trouble beleiving, and insisted that no car before 96 EVER had OBD-II. and also early 95s also have that awsome silencer box on the lower IC pipe!

Not all, I don't have it. (may 94 here) I've even heard of a few 96s that have had that silencer box as well.

No, that's just what J. Shephard told me when I was at his shop. It's been mentioned many times in many different threads on here and tuners. I'm sure if you search, you find info about it.
