I recently got myself a PTE 57 trim turbo. I took off the compressor housing to send off to get powdercoated. When i removed it , there was no gasket between the housing and the CHRA of the turbo. I personally dont see how 30psi does not leak when metal is on metal but ? . I never have taken a turbo apart before either for reference. Please throw in your .02$

All actual Garrett T04E covers will use a thin o-ring....the cover is grooved accordingly to accept the o-ring. Garrett T04B covers use a thin paper gasket.

Many Turbonetics and other Garrett wannabes do not use a gasket and suffer from chronic boost leaks at the cover as a result. If you do use RTV, be sure the turbo has been test-fitted to your application and the cover's alignment has been marked because once the RTV dries the cover will be glued in place.

jusmx141- I lined up the turbo with a marker. Then removed the turbo. I applied a small amount of rtv and finger tightened the compressor housing as directed by the rtv silicone tube. I then fully tightened down the housing without turning it at all, and it boost leaked at 20psi perfectly! Just now it smokes horribly and is in need of a rebuild so it was pointless, lol.

Burnett03- Theres a lot of shaft play but i've been reading of a oil restricter. I understand what it does but i dont have it. I have a oil feed line coming from the front of the head, not side banjo, with a filter, going into the turbo. I think i might need a restrictor when i re-install the turbo after the rebuild.
