It never fails every few months i find a good race with a z28 with a 100shot who thinks he owns the roads. we line up to race and i am usually in third gear and i look down had the oil light is on. i have to pull over and wait for it to cool down the buy some more oil so i can drive it home and clean it off and but another oil filter on and change the oil. And of course i am kicking the guys ass by like 8 cars when this happens then he says you still have to pay me you lost. So i lose more money. PLEASE TELL ME THIS HAPPENS TO YOU GUYS WITH THE 1G'S.

I had the same problem, at first it was just the oil filter coming loose, but then all my oil dumped out and my car stalled. It turns on the bolt the oil filter screws on to was loose, we tightened it down good and havent had a problem since, try that i dont know it might help, it only comes loose during high rpms it hink because of the vibration.

Yea, you'll need a deep 24mm socket. Tom Stangl recommended putting a thin (very thin) layer of hi-temp red Loctite on the threads and torque it down to the specs above. Let it set for a day or so and it shouldn't ever come loose again. Be careful not to torque it too tight or you'll crush the insides and the oil and coolant will mix together.

This happened to me and I am certain it is part of the reason my second motor failed... Now at every filter change I recheck this "bolt". Unscrewing the filter is what loosened it my case. Two days after an oil change and all of the oil was pumped out under pressure in like 10 seconds. Bye bye motor ;)
