I was just curious if you could drop out one of the 3 pieces in the drive shaft to convert your AWD to FWD. Has anybody done this? Just Curious. Thanks

Thanks. Sean I don't think so buddy. I kinda like mine better than yours. Have fun with your beetle project.

you have no mods, cept for a CAI and i know you have no money for dyno time, so i was just trying to help you out by selling you the laser, then you don't have to scour the world looking for an AWD dyno

Actually i wanna take out my driveshaft just to do some burnouts :)
and see the differnece how the pull is differnet on the highway without the loss of the AWD......

just for shits and giggles really

no way man, the subaru we used to have out at the junkyard was selectable 4wd high 4wd low,awd,2wd high with an H-4 and turbo and 5spd, 6K and drop the clutch it was like holy SH$T

Oh yes, burning rubber is very nice, but for that i guess you have to have two cars for two different worlds, one for launches and one to just beat on, so get your hands on a cavalier or a honda and then you can roast the tires on that and save your AWD for a when you feel like having your head slammed into your headrest.:D

NO AND NO

you can't do that because you have viscous coupling and not a locked diffrential. you WILL FUCK the coupling. That is becaase once free the rear axle is going to spin freely and but the fronts are not free. That would put shit load of pressure on the coupling. it is the EXTREME case of different tire radious.

and NO the highway would not be different because you WILL have the AWD loss. because your car still weighs as it did and you rear drivetrain is still in action, how?

because your rear wills spin on highway causing the diffrential to roate and the left over piece of the axle. so you are not helping/

there is a selectable AWD/FWD tranny from Japanese G VR4's
