Anybody ever tried this engine restorer stuff? Any harmful effects if I try it? Supposedly raises compression. Is it just some thick crap like STP to thicken oil, or is it some sort of chemical that actually treats rings/cyllinder walls like they claim?

I ues it on a reg basis. It got rid of my lifter tic and made the car run alot smoother. I recomend it to anyone. Don't listen to the people out there telling you it uses graphite, it doesn't. I spoke with a rep from the company and the stuff they use is under a patent so thats why it's the only oil additive out there that really works, and works well. I had 135000 miles on my car when I first used it and never had a problem with it cloging oil lines, that simply isn't true, and know one ever had any proof that it did;)

I have been using it about every other oil change since 103,xxx miles and my car has 128,xxx miles on it now. When I first started using it, I noticed an increase in preformance. Not a huge difference, but it did help the car run better. Knock on wood, I have never had a problem with the engine itself so far. I would reccomend it too anyone also, but I try not to use it with every oil change. I am going to be building another engine soon to replace the one I have now, just trying to keep downtime to a minimum(and I can't pass up a $25 price for a 90 6 bolt with roughly 90,000 miles on it:eek: ). So once the new motor is built, I am going to tear down the old one and check everything out and see how the wear is on everything. So far I haven't done a compression test, but I am going to try to get around to it this summer, just to see how its holding up.

NO, NOT THIS THREAD AGAIN!!! LOL

I just got new HLA's. That solved my ticking problem. I figure it'll pay for itself in like 35.4 oil changes compared to $4 per oil change for Restore. Only 102,750 more miles till I start reaping the benefits suckas! :D

Ok......after reading through a few hours worth of search results, I am going to try it. Do you think it would hurt to just add it to the crankcase (changed oil 200 miles ago)? I already have pretty high oil pressure since going to the 15W50 (Mobil 1), and I dont want to blow any seals or anything from adding an extra 1/2 qt. to the engine (for any of you PETA people out there, I mean ENGINE seals, not the animal kind:D ).

If I was you I would just wait till your next oil change and add some. Having too much oil in an engine can be bad for it. Either that or drain some oil out and then add the restore(messier but safer option). Its up to you though, just be warned.

The Engine Restorer is the only stuff on the market that really works - no matter what some people with no personal experience with the stuff say or think. I've used it in my 3 DSMs and have never experienced one single turbo failure, lifter tick or any negative side effects whatsoever. JMHO. :D

I was skeptical to use it at first. Compression was 140-140-145-135 before i used it. After adding Engine Restore my compression went up to 150-150-150-150. I now use it after every oil change.

(kinda sounds like an info commercial)

I wouldn't use it based on the info I read on this one website that independently tested that stuff and like additives. I'll try to dig up the web address.

The government already has ordered Motorup,Slick50 and a few other of those "miracle" products to stop making false claims.
Restore does up compression but I believe in the long run it will do harm but I guess if you have a high mileage motor you'll be due for a rebuild anyway in the next few years.
I guess if you're 70 years old it wouldn't hurt to start smoking either.:D

if you can find it there is a produst called seafoam and it works miracles, you can add it to oil gas tranny fluid whatever, it works,
just my opinion
