Hi, I'm new to this site and have been searching around for awhile on some of the forums about engine swaps - But I felt that it would just be easier to ask up front and not dig up dead forums because regardless of if I searched or not it seems I would piss someone off for not searching or piss them off for bringing up dead forum I just have a few questions and nothing to big and would like to discuss this with questions of my own.

Alright, I've got a buddy who has an AWD Eagle Talon Tsi it's the 90 /w a 92 front and rear end swap *body modification* so 1G 4g63 motor - I'm looking to buy it off of him here soon and was looking at some ideas I brought up in my head. from what I've been reading some people have been doing a later year 4g63 swap into these cars from Evo IIIs which I know is a JDM only car. . . .Question I have is what does it take out of an Evo III to swap into a DSM I don’t mind the 1G DSM motor to much but I'd be interesting to do an Evo III setup into one of these cars. . . .also if that's a stupid idea what would I need to do a later year of 4g63 in general as I know the 90 has few kinks and issues with parts that they upgraded or removed in the later years of these engines. Also I know you can upgrade and bolt on a 16G turbo from an Evo III like nothing so would that just be a good idea in its own as well?

I'm just a f-body guy at this point so all I know is V8, but he's really giving me a good deal on this car and I've always wanted an AWD DSM or Evo. . . .

What you are refering to is the EVO III 16g turbo and not the whole engine swap. Yes you can bolt the evo 16g turbo right on with no modifications what so ever along with a evo mannifold as well, how ever to swap the turbo to a e3 16g you must have the supproting mods as well (fuel pump, bigger injectors ect.) but your answer is yes you can bolt it right up. Buy your buddies talon dude and good luck.:)

Not a prob thats what this is all about. Only engine swap you would want is a rebuilt 4g63 with forged rods and pistons and ect, And dont let your v8 buddies give you crap:) . Poke your nose around here and you will find a few talkers running 400+ hp with a stock block. Its how you take care of the car that counts. 90% of the idiots that i ever met who constantly broke there dsm never even did a tune up! but yet they wonder why they knocking ... fucking idiots any way good luck.:)

Thanks, this is all wonderful info everyone I appreciate it - I guess I was mistaken but I had thought these motors came forged stock? Also I plan to treat this car very well for now it's going to get me to and from college while I build a stroker for my Camaro but once that project is done I'm going to repaint it and work on the interior. But! Being AWD I think it could handle a little extra power and still be a decent daily w/ blow off and inner cooler. Might upgrade the wheels tires and suspension aswell. . .Just I always like working on new projects and if it didn't take much I was going to see what a swap would take :D.

I'm not a flashy guy so this car won’t be riced or fast and the furious but I do plan to make it look nice and I just thought a 4G63 out of an evo III JDM in my part of the world would be very interesting and unique.

Also, I'm 95% sure that the EVO 3 engines actually have a higher compression ratio(like, 8:5.1).
Evo 1-2 had 8.5:1 and Evo3s had 9:1 compression.

An Evo3 motor will not bolt into a 1g, there is no provision for a front roll stop motor mount. They use a mount on the transmission like a 2g. It is a direct swap for a 2g, maybe thats what was referred to in a previous post. Why would you want to drop a 7 bolt into a 1g anyways?

Just a question and kinda off topic but how far are you from Beaumont?
Considering where I'm at is the half way point between you too. He is at least 6 hours away from you. I am about 3 hours away from either of you. Austin here btw.
