Evo rear axles fit dsm's?

Ive been doing some reading and from what ive found they share the same rear wheel-bearing, and if the stub into the diff fits correctly the only other issue would be length. But i cant find any measurements to confirm or deny this, so im wondering if someone happens to have old axles lying around or something.

Anyway, just stumbled on that and thought id ask

They are most likely larger diamater shafts, and you can actually get them.

Gonna bump this because I'm starting to wonder the same thing. Also wondering about the rear diff. Looks the same, but from what I've found out so far, the rear has a different gear ratio. But would it be possible to replace the guts with aftermarket parts and bring it back to a stock ratio? Or another way of getting the rear end of an evo 8 to work with our 2g's?
