I have been thinking about trying to imitate the ferarri shift boot or whatever you want to call it, plate or whatever. Will this work on a 1g dsm? I think it would look awsome, but worried about having to shift around the plate for 3rd, instead of the motion of going straight up. Is anyone good with metal working, any ideas for the type of metal to use, that won't bend to easy and polish up nice. or better yet, anyone actually do it? or is it even feasable?

On my car I have it so that the gate just barely fits into the console so it squeezes in and stays awesome. But I am working on a way to attach to the console through the 4 slots in it. Im off to work on the gate. Ill be back with some pics later on if I get some more done. Later guys.

Just got in didn't have much time to work on the gate besides painting it silver. Came out pretty good, just playing with different colors for know. Had to much else to do tonight but will have more done on the gate soon. Im out.

Hey guys,
So far no luck in finding anyone local with a 91-94 dsm. If you know of anyone that has one please put me in contact with them. I haven't had a chance to do any more work on the gate yet but hopefully tomorow. Have a good one guys.

That looks INCREDIBLE.
The only thing I think it needs is as I said before... there's just too MUCH of the gate itself.
You could wrap around part it w/ leather, or the same material that the 1G console is made of, so it just looks like there's a circular gate installed.
You need a new shift knob so bad

Thanks for the props. guys! I will work on something to cover the gate. I personally like the whole thing. It grows on you, but for those of you who want it covered more... It shall be done (or attempted to be anyways!). As for the shift knob it is going to be gone soon and replaced with something much better. I have more important things to replace right know besides a shift knob, but as soon as I have extra funds I will purchase a nice knob. As for the 91-94 lever I am looking into purchasing a complete shifter setup from a 91-94 dsm and am going to see if it will bolt up and work in my car just like a 91-94 would. So I will not have a need to borrow someone else's car and progress on that version of the gate/lever will come along faster than on the 90 gate/lever If any of you have any info for doing that swap please inform me( I will also be checking the vfaq and what not too) Later guys.

You have to hook it up to a 91-94 trans to make it work... or attach 91-94 shift levers to your 90 trans.
90 has longer shift levers on top of the trans, and the bottom portion of the shifter in the car is longer as well.. so it wouldn't be the same as a 91-94 car if you bolted 91-94 shifter into your car.
Hope that makes sense. You need 91-94 equipment on both ends of the line.

Hey guys,
Its monday night, I haven't had much time to get work done on the gate. Between school, studying for midterms/finals for school, and 25 hrs. a week at my job I've been strapped for time. But next week all testing for school is done and things will be back to normal. So expect to see more progress at the end of next week to beginning of the week after. Sorry guys but gotta get outta school first, and keep my priorites straight! Have a good one.
