Ok i have a 96 tsi awd.. and im wanted to get exhuast, Right now i only have 300 bucks as of right now. So i was thinking a 2.5" Downpipe and 2.5" test pipe and bolt it up to the stock cat back. Will that work? Also iv heard that it will not do much for performace but... oh well. If i go to the track i can just unbolt my stock cat back and run. Then i was planning on getting cat back in the spring. So basicly my question is.. should i do the downpipe/test pipe. Or save up a little more and get the cat back and test pipe now? Also will the 2.5" test pipe bolt to the stock cat back? Thanks for any help.

i would go ahead and get the cat-back.

Buy and Apexi down pipe. Or any down pipe about 250 ball park price. Put that on get press bent pipe cat back and a muffler. You will be fine. Apexi downpipe because it removes the cat for you. No test pipe needed. That is my 2 cents.

you do not want press bent you want mandrel bent.

You will see better results if you work from the tail pipe forward. I would recommend waiting until you can afford the cat-back and test pipe and then go for a down pipe when you have the cash. The test pipe will bolt up to the stock exhaust and most aftermarked downpipes and cat-backs.

on co.dsm.org there is a page on custom exhaust... not sure if its specific to stores in this area or not... but its got instructions on what to get/look for and average prices of a full turbo back 3in exhaust if I'm not mistaken.... and for the full system.... cheaper than $300 if I'm not mistaken.... I'd check on the info for you but I cant access any dsm.org sites from this puter.... bleh smartfilter sucks!

Hope that helps...

I got my mandrell bent 2.5" dp and then expanding to 3" right after the flex with a magnaflow muffler for $375 for parts, labor and everything.
Let us know how it sounds

mine expands to 3 right after the turbo... nice deep exhaust note, not loud at cruising speeds, but feelable inside, and can definately hear the deepness when you're next to me in town

does get a bit loud on high rev take offs but nothing annoying like the weedeater cars you always here. I love it the sound/feel of mine :)

WELL i was out working on the car today and i took of the intake tube thingy. just to get it out of they way. And when i do this i always check for shaft play and well there is some =( So i told my dad and what not.. and now i got to decide either a t28 or cat back.. :D If i got the t28 im not planning on running high boost like 13psi or so.. Till i get cat back. then only like 15psi.. with a rewire on the fuelpump.. or just get a walbro. But cat back before DP is what im doing thanks for the help guys. Or instead of a t28.. i was thinking a 14b for now.. that would be the cheapest thing to do.

Do intake right after exhaust, I didn't feel that significant of an increase until I got my K&N. Then I felt a huge increase when they worked together.
