FPS required or not??

I am installing an AEM adjustable FPR on my '96 GST. I have to pass emissions every 2 years in northwest Indiana if that matters.

Question: Do I leave the FPS hooked up and just run the vac line from the FPS to the new AEM FPR?

I read the below in a post which tells me I'm ok to leave the FPS hooked up??

"The FPS is not operated anytime after startup. It's just used to (supposedly) prevent vapor lock in the fuel system. It does nothing after the car has been running for a minute or so (solenoid is opened up, and FPR receives the normal boost/vac signal). With the FPS closed, you will be running whatever your base FP is (boost/vac signal is removed from FPR)."

Major mods at same time:
FP exhaust Manifold
FP 68HTA turbo
Injen intake w recirc
Full Tanabe exhaust including downpipe
ECM Link V3 full for 2G
AEM WB O2 w / AF
ETS 2G 7" Street Intercooler Kit
DW 255 fuel pump
DW 800 cc injectors
AEM boost gauge
Stock trans cooler removed and replaced w larger one where IC was
Stock MAF

The FPS is not required but will throw a code if you disconnect the electrical connection, as long as you're not throwing a code on the ECU it won't flag for emissions. If they visually inspect then yes, you'd have to reattach/bypass as inspections come up.

Normally a vacuum line is attached to the FPR. FPS sits in the middle. It can be bypassed. 2g run and OBD II system and monitors items such as the FPS whereas the 1g does not. ECU Link can disable the code thrown by the FPS.

I am old and grumpy. It's my job. What you fail to realize is the Tech Articles section was just opened a month ago after being closed for SEVEN years. Because people like you kept posting in the section. Welcome for being the first noob to post there since being reopened.

So since you're so keen on throwing labels around, I guess that means you're young, you're SPECIAL, and you don't need to just acknowledge it was the wrong place, apologize, and ask if someone could please help. That would make you the Entitlement generation.

It's not for those with thin skin with responses like addressed at the forum administration.

EDIT: Your question has been asked less than 1 day ago. Not everything gets answered in mere minutes or hours. Many times the question has been answered tons of times. A simple search would more than likely given you your answer before it had been answered. Just something to consider.

I'm not much help with emissions as I tore all of that stuff off within the first year of owning the car. I'm not required to pass emissions, and I don't pay attention to many threads which talk about emissions since I'm not required to pass.

Welcome to DSMtalk. There's a plethora of information to be had if you take a little bit of time and search. If you're still unsure, ask away. Most of the guys that hang around won't give you too hard of a time. We're all friendly. Don't mind Red. He's just on a dry spell. :p

Thanks Dustin, I appreciate your help and comments....

As for Red... I'm on my knees begging your forgiveness because I am new to this whole thing and posted in the wrong location. I searched and read at least 50 posts on FPS's prior to posting when I did. I didn't see anything pertaining to what I was asking. I will be much more careful in the future, I promise. By the way Red, I will be 59 in January but good failed attempt on the judgment of age. I guess the county fair would have no use for you at the age / weight guessing booth. I hope you score soon..........
