Fuse Box Relocation (1G)

Ok so I am in the middle of doing this and need some advice. A little background is I plan on moving the fusebox to the glove box and run the wires through the evap drain tube hole in the firewall (AC is gone). For anyone who has done it, where did you route your wires? I originally thought the engine bay side of the splash shield/fender well cover, but this may interfere with the removal of the engine/trans. This would be way easier to do with the engine in the car, but it is not, and frankly I am new to DSMs so I cannot picture where the trans will sit exactly.

My next thought is running along the subframe connector (proper name?) and then into the evaporator drain tube's hole. Not sure if I would run it to problems with this spot either. Thats why I need help from someone with experience!

Thats on a 2g there buddy. A 1g is a little different. We have like only have plus or minus 25 wires and if you splice the harness open alot the wires are spliced together so thats a lot of extra wire you might want to take out. As
it gets a little complicated when your actually sorting out wires. There are also two connecters that need to be extended in a 1g when doing the relocation. The link above does have good information thought.

Theres nothing about a fuse relocation thats hard?

Cut and lable your wires (one by one if need be) each by number (1-1, 2-2, 3-3) etc.

Take a soldering torch (not a gun, the mini torches) and solder on all your extenders on the fuse box side. (MUCH easier this way)

Mount it where you want it.

(At this point depending on how good you are with electrical you can began soldering everything up, but if you aren't slide your number markers down further on the extender tip)

Match each number up accordingly.

Solder. (one by one)

Done.

Takes a couple hrs at most. ESPECIALLY in a 1G.

Just double check your tags and if all numbers (between 26 and 28ish on a 1g and 36-46ish on a 2g) match up you are golden.

Just make sure you unplug your battery durring all of this and its easy as pie.

I might just start doing this locally for some coinage if everyone is so timid to do it..

Thanks for the write up. It didn't answer my question. I need to know the best location to run the wir. I would like it hidden so just going over the trans mount isn't really what I am looking for.

Once again thanks, but I have read that numerous times and it didn't answer my question. I am also talking with him via PM to get some more information since he doesn't really mention it in the thread.

I will post a little more information about where my harness is cut...

The red was the route planned, but i wouldn't be able to drop the trans so thats a no go.

Any ideas?

I know Im bumping an old thread, but I havent been able to find much on this or even finished pictures.

Are you guys running the wire the same way and just making it longer with it going in the passenger side area? Could it also be shortened and only the connectors for the lights, horns, oil pressure ect. be ran through the fenders?
