Graphite Vs MLS Head Gasket

I am doing a stock rebuild on my 95 Eclipse Gs 402a and I have pretty much everything I need I just have one question. What is going to seal better and last longer, Graphite head gasket or an MLS head gasket. They are both about the same price. What should I get? I hear pro's and con's for both but experiences speak for themselves. Let me know!

I was about to ask the same question right now and decided to search and what do I find, this thread :)
I am also putting together my 4g63 and I have both the MLS HG and the graphite HG. Both from JNZtuning. They sent me the graphite as well, by mistake. I was planning on putting the MLS but do I need to have the head shaven some amount so it compensates for the extra thickness of the MLS headgasket? It's almost twice as thick as the graphite gasket.
If I have to shave the head I will probably just go with the graphite HG. I already had the head resurfaced but I don't know how much that removes.

azazel182, thank you for asking this question. What a coincidence. :)

No one has anything to say about this???? Come on guys. I really need to know if I can just put the MLS gasket without any head shaving..

Thank you guys, I already went ahead and installed the MLS gasket.

As far as JNZ sending me two gaskets, I did pay extra $60 for the MLS gasket. The graphite gasket was coming with the gasket kit which I paid $200 for. I was also never told that the gasket kit comes with valve stem seals so I went ahead and ordered a separate set of them without being told that they are already included so I guess we are even.

i notice that your profile says that you have a 1g, but you said 420a, are you working on a 1g or a 2g n/a. If it is a 2g n/a which has a 420a it has a mls stock, and that is what i would put back on, if it is a 1g n/t it had a composite style head gasket, and that is what you should use. If the engine was hot, make sure to check the head for straightness. IT is important to have a head shaved when using a mls head gasket on a 4g63.

I have a 1g and a 2g. The 2g is a 95 Mitsubishi Neon... I mean eclipse with the 420a. The car has 130k miles on it and has a broken rod, messed up crank, and a hole in the "main bearing girdle asy". When I pulled the head off it had a composite head gasket and not the MLS. From what Napa says it is supposed to have the MLS head gasket. I have no clue. I haven't had the car that long but I do know either the t-belt hadn't been changed or someone got their t-belt from Chrysler. I am leaning towards MLS.
