So I know that www.machv.com has a DG Harness bar. I was searching other vendors, (dejon, extremepsi, sbr etc) and noticed that nobody else makes one.
Is there anyone company that makes these? I like the one at mach v, but I think $329 is wayy over priced.

Discuss.

they sell a complete roll cage on ebay for like 250 shipped , has to be welded but still would only cost a little more than that bs harness bar , and it will also add structurul integrity , safty , and a great place to mount your harnesses.
Those three things probably shouldnt all be in the same sentence. Just a thought though.

I'm in the same boat since I just found out you should not anchor them into the floor unless you don't like your spine. I read a old post that JM Fab was going to make one but that was a year ago. I just checked on the site and I saw nothing. I just installed my DAD seat and now need a harness and a mounting point.

There is another thread going on about this topic right now. If you guys are not ready to splurge on the harness bar or a cage quite yet then the upper rear seatbelt mounts should work fine. The angle will be correct as long as the hanesses are long enough to reach you don't use your backseat(who really does?).

Are you sure its at the correct angle to pass tech at the track? I really dont want to spend the time installing my recaros and harness to drive 2 hrs to the track to fail tech.

There's a reason no one likes to make them, in the event of an accident your seat is held upright and without a cage you'll lose your head in a rollover. They are too dangerous in street cars unless you have an entire cage. I work in a chassis fab shop and we will not make harness bars under any circumstances.

Dam I have a complete cage in my garage ready to go in but I really dont want to install it until I absolutly need to since its heavy as all hell. I guess I will just keep rocking the stock seats and belts until Im forced to toss in a cage and my race seats.

Wouldn't the stock one do the same thing? If you rollover what's to protect your head?

My statement was based upon functionality. Meaning I would be combftorable running my car with the harnesses secured in that manner. I am not privy to the specifics of NHRA tech rules and therefore will not comment on that part. If you have the specific rule I can give you my best opinion though.

You dont' have a choice to duck or lean or move, you're stuck upright period. Not only that most seats in newer cars are designed to lean backwards in the event of a rollover. I've seen a c5 do this first hand, convertible c5 rolled in front of me, the guy got out wiht only scratches.

If so, then a harness bar, or having a harness in that is angled correctly with no cage is dangerous? What's the point of having the straps bolted down at said correct angle if the harness will keep you pinned upright anyway?

The bar keeps the seat upright.

I see what you guys are saying now I guess there isn't that much play in a 4pt harness. I would still think you would be able to duck or slouch a little in a event of a rollover you would think but maybe not.
I can[t even close my door with the harness on it wont' let me reach that far.

I understand that the bar keeps the seat upright if you roll over, but i'm talking about strictly the harness. What's the point in having the harness bolted down at a certain angle?

+1. With my harness in I can barely turn around to back up. I had to learn how to use my sideview mirrors. :p
