Well sunday I pulled a longblock from the junkyard up the street. The unlucky car was a 92 talon tsi all wheel drive with 130xxx miles. I wanted to buy the hole car but they wouldnt let me. Im not sure what all I should do before I drop it in my 97 spider? Im thinking bout taking it to a engine shop but all the ones around here are ownd by stupid people. I dont know if I should just order one of those cheap piston ring kits, gasket kits, and bearing kits what do You all think would be good. Im not looking for anything crazy just a motor that can be realible for a few years for my girlfriend. Also the talon had an auto trans will my 5spd mount right up to the new motor? Thanks.

Dude, do some reading.

You will need the dust cover from your 7-bolt engine that is on the transmission side of the block behind the flywheel, and put it on the 6-bolt engine. There might be one or two less bolts(because of differences in 6 and 7- bolt setups nothing to do with auto or manual transmissions), but yes the transmission will bolt up fine once the dust plate is transfered to the new engine.
