Installed VPC and car will not idle, it starts and dies right away.

If I unplug VPC the car will start and idle, but will throw a cell light.

VPC with 660cc chip and 660cc injectors,
temperature sensor is in custom TB elbow
MAP sensor is T - ed in the FPR ans so is the boost gauge,
the sensor is mounter niple pointing down.

Thanks
Leo

if the knobs on the vpc where hour hands on a clock. where are the gain and idle knobs set to?

Everything is set at 12 o'clock, I tried playing with idle seting
5 o'clock and then setting it 7 o'clock but it did not help.

changed some of vacum lines around,
now everything except the MAP sensor is hooked up to
one of the fittings on the intake (BOV, wastegate, FPR, boost gauge)

MAP sensor is hooked up to another port by itself, also moved
the MAP sensor closer to the intake 6-7in, it connected to a
long bracket that is connected to the firewall. It still hooked up
upside down.

I am going to try to test the MAP sensor tomorow, running
out of options.

Thanks

You will not be able to run just the VPC with a 660 chip. It will run way too rich.

You will need to get an SAFC to lean out your fuel curve.

And yes, cold weather tends to make things a bit richer. You will have to do a little tuning to get the car to run correctly in cold weather.

purchased AFC but its not hooked up yet, I want to get the car
running before I install anything else. Once it idles and drives
( id does not have to run good) I will install AFC.to fine tune it.

I just read somewhere that the white wire should not be hooked up,
I hooked up both the blue wire and the white wire on the VPC harness. I will try to see if it helps when I get home from work.

I also removed all resistors and soldered them in for better
connection, also will post the info on how to hardwire VPC
without the harness. Have all measurments for resistors
and it should be pretty easy to install VPC without the harness.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

You're not going to get it to idle without hooking up the AFC. Your car is running super rich right now. That's the reason it won't idle.

Can you depress the gas and keep the car reving at 3-4K?

Why the car would not idle?
Why do you think its running super rich?

VPC with 660cc chip and 660cc injectors, I thought the car
should idle, maybe not perfect idle but it should idle anyway.

The car idles when I unhook the vpc's two small harnesses
(not at ecu, but at VPC). If the car idles without VPC and MAS
with 660cc injecotrs, why it would not idle with VPC connected?

Can somebody else confirm this, if its true I will hookup the AFC
and try to troublshoot them together.

Thanks

if you don't have a afpr with those 660's and walbro. you most likely have a base fuel pressure of at least 48-50 psi. your car will never idle this way. try setting the gain to 7 o'clock and the idle to 7 o'clock also. that might allow it to idle but its very unlikely. you need to hook up that S-afc NOW!

The car is running rich because the BR 660cc chip is optimized for the higher rpm ranges...not for idle.

Are you running larger fuel pump? Do you have an adjustable fuel presure regulator?

Ok, its fixed

Tested the MAP sensor and it gave me the right voltages, then I
tested the MAP sensor at VPC, one of the wires was giving
me the wrong value, so I run the new one. The car started up and idle ok, a bit rich but nothing AFC can not fix, will install
AFC and turn the car when I get a chance.

Yes I have upgraded fuel pump Denso 190lph and no I don't have FPR.

In case someone else has the problem where the car starts up
and dies right away check you MAP sensor and check it at two
different locations, right next to it and next to VPC.

I did whole bunch of research on VPC and I came up with
a way to install it without the harness. I will post it
once I have a chance to write this up.

Here is how you can set up VPC without harness,
instructions for 1G turbo.
