why is a SMIM, or more specifically a Venom intake manifold reccomended for drag racing applications only. in what way is this mod going to ruin streetability?

you lose some low end torque to make up for high end power. means you will need more effort to get of the line in a normal stop and go situation. it really wont make it that difficult though. you really shouldnt worry about this until your stock manifold just isnt cutting it. there are better things to spend your money on

They usually say this because if you run a SMIM you are no longer emissions safe due to the block off of the EGR. They say its for drag racing purposes only just to save their ass if you get caught and get fined. You're not going to notice that much difference in low end power. Like stated before, if you dont need it, why get it?

i'd get it because i'm hopefully getting a pretty damn good deal on this overall package...

Full race ported head w/ ferrea stainless valves springs and retainers, AND a spare set of titanium valves and retainers, venom intake manifold, ported 2g exhaust manifold, SCE gasket kit, ACT streetlife xact flywheel, and ACT maxx xtreme pressure plate, polished/ balanced/ knife edged stock crank, Eagle forged h-beam rods, all new bearings, wiseco forged and coated pistons w/rings.

right now i have stock injectors, rewired pump, and 15psi on a brand new big16g, this friday full 3" exhaust is going on the car with dynomax straight-through 3" muffler, no cat.

in the very near future i should have a walboro on the way along with some 650cc injectors and an AFC

if its part of a deal use it, but dont just get it because you think it will show huge gains with your 16g
True. The full bottom end doesn't do you any good unless you're running 25+ psi. At that point, loose the idea of 650's + AFC. Save up the chedder and go 880's with the Link. This will max out your 16G on boost, but it will prevent you from buying twice as many parts when you want to upgrade in the future. Just my $.02. Good luck with the build.
