a local shop makes em they're universal 2.5" end tanks and are 30x6x3. granted 6" tall isn't all that big but they're only askin 250 for these things, it's still better than the supra sidemount far as im concerned.

Ask them what type of core it is, how much does it flows, what type of endtanks they would use, those are the one's I can think of right now. If it is a good core, check how much it flows to see if it will outflow the supra sidemount, then the FMIC would be better. Given it is a FMIC it will receive "more air" to be cooled than a SMIC.:D

i've asked 5 times and they tell me that they manufacture the core themselves so there is no info on it.

That's not a good way of doing business, tell them to do the testing if they want to sell them, at least the flow test would be ok, they maybe giving you something not good at all. Ask other people that are running it if you can, or go to see it perform. Be careful about it.:D

i tried asking them, all they tell me is "they work good, we sell a lot of them" and they do sell a lot of them to people who buy them cuz they're front mounts and dont have the slightest bit of the concept of tuning....so that doesn't help, they say they dont' ahve to test them cuz they know they work. bad attitude i know but hell theyre 250 bux

dunno yet, but i'll be finding out soon.
I would try it for $250. If it sucks, it would still be an upgrade from the stocker smic.:D

looks teeeny..:p someone find out how much that thing flows..just for the hell of it, how big is that thing compared to the isuzu npr coolers? mkIII frontmount? Starion sidemount? anyone with any of the 3 want to chime in?

yeah they're 1.5-2" wide which to me is a little too small...but it IS basically 3 2g ones stuck together...we're gonna do some testing on it

I have the NPR "medium" core, the most commonly used one (ready to go on as soon as I get my T3/T4 kit)...
I posted this in another thread, hopefully it's useful.

The core (no endtanks) is
19 3/4" wide,
8 1/2" tall, and
2 3/32" thick

In addition, there are 16 rows, and each tube is 1/4" thick o.d., but I don't know the i.d. of the tubes.

Yeah, that core BLOWS horse cock shift knobs. It's like 2 inches thick at best by 8 tubes tall. $50 says the 1G stocker out flows it. The 1G stocker is almost 4 inches thick by 8 inches wide. This one is 2 inches thick by 6 inches tall, it does NOT add up. Just because it is longer doesn't make it better.

Looks good behind the bumper of a Honda. Hence their main target audience. Just my opinion but someone was pushing them on DSMcentral a week or so ago and I voiced most of the same concerns there.

Look at the weird fitment of the endtanks to the core. It seems designed to be a 'hey look at my shiny frontmount' type of thing. i.e. Looks great behind the bumper but that's about it. Hopefully I'll be dead wrong here and you'll get a killer deal on a decent FMIC but looking at those pics, I wouldn't buy it.

Any intercooler that makes the stocker look beefy probably isn't the best buy IMHO. If it could do the job well but looked a bit off I would expect the company to lay my concerns to rest with hard data to back up their product's performance.

It's been said numerous times on here and I've seen the 'you get what you pay for' scenario play out time and time again. Just my $0.02

Forgot to mention in my other post; 2.5 inch outlets on the tanks aren't going to do you much good on an intercooler that's only 2 inches thick.

You're looking at putting a pretty serious restriction in your intake path with that. You'd be upgrading your piping and intake for better flow only to neck it down for the 30" length of the intercooler. Any intercooler that's narrower than the piping to and from it... you can do the figuring from there.
