Are you thinking CAS? ISC's never came with a pigtail on them. Maybe the original poster is confused, because I have also never heard of different versions of ISC's.

I've never seen an ISC with a "pig tail", however I have direct experiance with the black case version of the ISC, it is an updated model that supposedly isn't as prone to burning out.

I'm running one of the newer updated (black case) ISC on my car. After two ISC's going bad and an ECU meltdown (the reason for the ISC failures), I bought a rebuilt ECU and a brand new ISC from the local Mitsu dealer.

John-

the pig tail version are used on the odd ball DSM 1990 cars and from 1991 to 1999 use the same versions of ISC.

also other differences from 1990 and 1991-1994 are:
Throttle body
ISC
ECU and ecu wiring
Ignition Coil
Ignition Control Module
rpm meter
Tranfer case

that is on the top of my head but i think there might be a little more or i have name them all.

That's.....Interesting. I have never seen one of those type of ISC's. Ever. You learn something new everyday :)

yeah at times, i wish i have a 1991 or newer 1G :(

interesting, it looks like the connector is the same, I wonder if the newer style ISC will work on the 90 throttle body?

John-
Yes, it works fine, you just need to make a new lead using either the old '90 ISC harness or a new one from six 9" wires and crimp-on spade connectors to fit the spade pins on the new ISC. The wiring is straight through- pin to pin.

The old ISC with harness was used on DSM's prior to 6/90. So not ALL '90's have the ISC with harness. After 6/90, Diamond Star changed to using the new ISCs.
